Good sandwich

Helmi's will always have a place in my heart.

When it opened, it was a lovely hub of hope and happiness. Now, with more branches in the mainland, I can't help but feel the original Bute branch has been somewhat neglected.

It's still good, although vegan options are limiting. Hummus and salad wrap, which is still very nice, but not *that* exciting.

If you're vegetarian and eat dairy and eggs, the cakes still look great, but sadly none are suitable for vegans.

Still worth a visit if you love hummus like I do!

Disappointed

Some people are reviewing the Bearsden cafe, I'm not sure if this is different or not, but the Bute one was disappointing when I was there.

I asked about the lentil soup and was told it wasn't vegan, so I'm not sure if they were wrong when they told me that or, if it's changed since an earlier poster mentioned it or they had non vegan soup.

I had asked what halawa was which was on the menu for in a roll and he couldn't describe it but sadly it was nice and I should order it, so I did and instead got a haloumi roll. I sent it back and they were apologetic but they didn't have any halawa. My.choice was a hummus roll or vegan cheese roll, which I didn't want by this point.

So to me, you might aswell go to the Coop than go here. Perhaps I'm being too harsh but it wasn't for me at all. I've given it 2 stars because there was something, but it's definitely not somewhere I would recommend.

Pros: There is something if you were desperate

Cons: Too crammed, Just hummus or fake cheese in a roll

Lovely cafe

Lovely cafe with a few vegan options! I had the lentil soup and bread and hummus - the hummus was incredible.

Brilliant!

Would be 5 stars if the app allowed. Bearsden branch and it is the best bakery I've been to with plenty of vegetarian options.

Great vegetarian & vegan food

We had 2 vegetarian and 1 vegan breakfast, as well as coffee, fresh orange juice and a lentil soup. All were top quality and delicious. The staff are really friendly, the tables were well distanced (including a couple outside) and great value.

Pros: Very tasty food, Excellent value

Cons: Could have more vegan options.
