We did not stay to eat - Edit
We tried to stop by to eat here but there is no place to sit and eat. I’m sure the food was great although wanted to sit for a bit

Did you see the seating inside the store around the area by the vitamins? There were tables and chairs there where we ate.

Good - Edit
We had couple smoothie bowls, they were ok. Not creamy.
Read moreVeggie wrap sandwich was the flavorful the first time but the second time it was lacking. Ask for extra hummus.
The mock chicken sandwich needs more sauce or veganaise. They do put tons of sprout and greens in the sandwiches which is a plus.
We have been there multiple times and we had never felt welcomed. Feel like the staff are not loving working there.
Pros: Healthy sandwiches , A lot of vegan options
Cons: Very expensive, Not too friendly or welcoming

Mixed Bag of Flavors - Edit
At Hawaiian Moons Cafe & Juice Bar, the Portobello Panini impressed with its abundance of mushrooms, which was quite satisfying. However, both the onions and mushrooms could have spent a bit more time on the grill to achieve a richer caramelization. On the other hand, the mock chicken tofu sandwich, while decent in taste, was overshadowed by an excessive amount of salad that seemed to overpower the sandwich, and unfortunately, the bread lacked the durability to hold it all together. While there were notable highlights, particularly with the Portobello Panini, there's room for improvement.

Vegan breakfast options - Edit
Veggie & vegan items made fresh. I’ve eaten far better vegan breakfast sandwiches, but this was a filling breakfast option with protein, when there aren’t many similar options around.

Try the vegan breakfast sandwich! - Edit
Deli bar at the back of Hawaiian Moons health store. They have sandwiches, burgers, smoothies, etc. We tried the teriyaki burger and it was good, but not amazing. The vegan breakfast sandwich was the best thing we had there and I would highly recommend getting it!

Amazing breakfast sandwich - Edit
This is a supermarket with a deli-style bar you can order at. They have smoothies, paninis, sandwiches, burgers. I had the vegan breakfast sandwich and it was one of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had. Smoothie was incredible too. expensive but not more than the rest of the island and standard pricing for the area. Will be coming back!

Great açaí bowl - Edit
Tried the açaí bowls after some bad experiences at another local spot & were super happy. Not too sweet, generous portion with clean ingredients. Quick service. Would definitely recommend!

Nice Deli Options - Edit
Had the veggie sandwich one day and the teriyaki mushroom sunshine burger the next. Both were delicious but that sunshine burger was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had, and I wasn’t expecting that. There is a good sized eating area inside or you can take your food across the street to the beach.

Tasty selection - Edit
I got the Portobello panini with avocado, it was delicious! I was staying at the resorts along the beach and they aren’t vegan friendly so came here for lunch, they also had a vegan burger (tempeh or beyond burger), and a mock chicken sandwich. Sandwiches are modifiable to add vegan cheese or veggies. Also have hot food selection ($9/lb) as well as salad bar. Didn’t look around grocery store much but there is vegan spreads, frozen vegan food, etc.

Stolen in the grab some bananas and a few snacks, they had everything I was looking for, for a price! But that’s how it is in Maui, you will pay twice as much as at home!

if I could I would give 5 stars - Edit
I know they are not fully vegan but the amount of options and the quality of vegan food/products was great. We ate here almost every day and I am still dreaming about their açaí bowls. They have a great salad bar and hot food bar with several vegan options along with several sandwiches and burgers made to order. We also got most of the same products we use at home for breakfast at our rental. If you are in the area drop in and you won’t be disappointed.

few truly vegan options - Edit
Had a tempeh burger with mushrooms and a smoothie. Burger was ok, nothing that you can say wow.Sizes were small. Not a lot of vegan options around Kihei so we tried this one. I guess we will need to try the others.

We frequented Hawaiian Moons as well aside from driving to Kahului for WF and Down To Earth but what we did find in Kihei at our hotel, is a restaurant called Ami Ami that had a beautiful and delicious Vegan breakfast. Not on the menu but they have it if you ask for it. They also have a vegan dinner on the menu. It was nice to have options.

three nights in a row! - Edit
We stayed in Kihei for three nights and ate at Hawaiian Moons all three nights for dinner! Everything we ordered from the bar was great. We had the portobello pesto sandwich, teriyaki tempeh burger, the cheese tempeh burger and the veggie sandwich. Everything was wonderful. Breads were great, even had vegan/gf bun options. A must visit if you are vegan or vegetarian.

Expanded & Better - Edit
I had come here on two previous trips to Maui and was just here again this week. Here's my Hawaiian Moons review update.
Read moreThe store now is much bigger and better organized. And the food area is much bigger with an added counter for juice, smoothies, acai bowls, and sandwiches.
We came here a few times, bought some groceries, and quick meals here. We've had the acai w/ pitaya mix bowl (good), teriyaki tempeh burger (ok), nori rolls (ver good), mock tofu sandwich (so-so, good local bread), and the portobello pesto panini sandwich (served hot, yummy). Overall a good place for vegans to get something to eat and shop.
Pros: vegan friendly, seating inside

Good vegan options! - Edit
We stayed in Kihei for a week and this store was 2 minutes away from us and our home away from home. They have green juices and smoothies, vegan options on the menu, and a hot and cold food bar with vegan options there, too, clearly labeled and ingredients listed. Their acai and pitaya bowls are HUGE at 24 ounces. We also cooked at home so kept coming here to buy our ingredients and snacks for outings. It's also in the same complex as a wonderful massage space and Snorkel Bob's where they were super friendly and helped us plan our snorkeling trip. We did go in the early afternoon on Wednesday and had to circle the parking lot a few times since it was full but it was worth it to wait a bit so we could go in. When going earlier and later in the day, we didn't have any parking issues.
