Ugh, I can't say enough good about the vegan options here. The workers truly care about getting your order right. Only once of the dozens of times I've ordered did they give me a meat version by accident. When I brought it back they refunded me and gave me 2 portions of the order I made free. NOT TO MENTION DELICIOUS!

Great Hakka food in Barrie! - Edit
We found Hakka Town by accident - trying to find local vegan options to spend a Skip the Dishes gift card. We ordered for two. For our first order, we got a large vegan hot and sour soup to split, Chick’n Manchurian (medium spice level) and Cantonese Vegan Chow Mein. It took us awhile to find - the Bayfield Mall is an older shopping centre and the signage is not great - but when we got there the friendly woman working at the front had our order ready and waiting.
Read moreOnce we got home (20 mins drive), we found everything was packed really well and still hot. They do a great job getting a char (wok hei) on the noodles so they’re really smoky and have a bit of crispiness, and the veggies/sauce are packed separately so you can add and eat right away - preventing it from getting soggy.
The Chick’n Manchurian was a big hit! Lots of chunky green peppers, cashews and a flavour-packed, tangy sauce. It also comes with a generous portion of rice. We enjoyed the vegan hot and sour soup as well - though it was quite thick and gelatinous so I would thin it out a bit next time just from personal preference. It had tons of flavour, too.
We liked it so much that I decided to order from them for my birthday party. I saw on their Instagram that they do party trays so we ordered the chow mein and Chick’n Manchurian again (mild this time, to accommodate guests), and tried the Sweet and Sour Tofu. Phoned in our order (as you can’t order the trays online) and the guy who helped us was really great. It ended up being WAY too much food for our gathering but that’s on us for not checking. Though everyone loved it and were happy to take some containers home! Food quality was just as good for the party tray orders as for the regular size (maybe even better for the noodles - they were particularly delicious that day).
This place is now a solid family fave - we feel so lucky to have a great Hakka style restaurant right in Barrie that’s dedicated to providing delicious vegan options. I also know that they’re family run, which is nice. It’s in the same mall as the Centra Asian grocery store, which we visit frequently so I can see this being a regular stop off!
Pros: Delicious food, Convenient ordering, Friendly staff
Cons: Good vegan menu, but could be expanded
