Stunning views with great vegan options

I've heard they've had some changes to management recently and have been understaffed so have a feeling the menu will improve. They cater for vegans. More upmarket food. Good options. Great atmosphere with stunning views. Busy tourist area so busy in summer.

Pros: Great location, Great atmosphere

Cons: Busy in tourist season

AVOID

We dined here last night. The avocado and tomato bruschetta was essentially avocado toast on sourdough. They brought us the mains for a different table (a steak pie) and apologised by saying another table had the ‘exact same order as us’ which didn’t feel reassuring that they knew what they were doing. They then took those meals out to the other table (and I had lifted the lid of the pie to check what it was). I chose the Moussaka which was listed as VGNR which I assumed was vegan but came with dairy cheese on top. When I asked about this the young lad looked annoyed he had to check with the chef. The ?manager explained the VGNR meant ‘vegan by request as stated in the key’ and that moussaka usually comes with cheese - so this was essentially my mistake. Granted I should have checked with the server, but the menu is clearly labelled badly. If it had said V/VG I would have asked for the vegan option as this is standard labelling in most places now. They did make up a new one but sadly it wasn’t very nice. The mousakka was really bland and the cheese on top had way too much of a coconut flavour. Chef needs to taste the food they are making. The chips were really nice, but the salad came with a creamy dressing and with coleslaw (also not on the menu) so unsure if vegan as it looked the same as it did on the dairy plate. My partners food returned cold. We didn’t finish our meals and stupidly paid full price but left very frustrated. Staff need more training on hospitality and knowing what’s in the dishes.

Pros: Nice location

Cons: Labelled badly for vegans , Very overpriced , Bland

Not good for vegans

Have 1 vegan labelled option which we requested clearly, it came served with a non vegan Yorkshire pudding (which they insisted was vegan twice before finally checking with the chef & confirming non vegan) & mash that had butter in it. “They just come with a Yorkshire pudding”…. Yeahhhhh the vegan one probably just shouldn’t. Staff friendly but no understanding or effort towards vegans.

Delicious but limited

Very limited vegan options but delicious. Had Lentil loaf with all the Sunday lunch trimmings. Also soup but not sure if vegan butter for bread. Friendly staff.

Well made vegan options

The food is really well made, decent options for starter and main and sorbet for desert. Vegan options clearly not just an afterthought but nicely curated. A couple more vegan options would be good but personally so long as there’s something nice I’m happy, I think the menu rotates regularly too. Will make any tea or coffee dairy free. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a gorgeous location.

Pros: Very well made food, thought gone into the recipe

Homemade burger with fries

Burger is made of peanutbutter, carrots, beans, etc. Very tasty. Don't know if the little salad is vegan though. Didn't eat it and forgot to ask!
