We hebben hier heerlijk en gezellig gedineerd. We hadden de knolselderij en de cougetinni. Voor een volledige maaltijd is het aan te raden de patatjes erbij te doen of gewoon lekker voor een toetje te gaan.

Is it worth it? - Edit
First off, the vibe at Gys is wonderful. It's very bright and cozy and the service was exceptional. It did get quite loud at times, but that can happen anywhere.
Read moreThe food options all looked lovely and I like the way they choose one Veggie as the centrepiece for the meal. We ended up having the Satay and were very happy with our choice.
However, I must say this place was well out of our typical price range, everything they have is very expensive and even though the food was good, it wasn't exceptional, nor was it a particularly big portion. Leaving us wondering whether it was worth it.
Definitely did enjoy our time there and had a lovely evening. But I personally wouldn't go there again.

Geweldig als altijd - Edit
Zoals altijd, op beide locaties, een aanrader en dat is wat ik dan ook graag doe: aanraden. Het maakt niet uit wat je bestelt, alles is geweldig en opvallend vind ik dat er altijd smaken zijn die ik niet of nauwelijks ken. Het ziet er ook nog eens fantastisch uit.

Okay, but no x-factor - Edit
Had lunch here with a friend. Food was nice but portions are really large (could not finish) and flavours are on the safe side. Staff is friendly, location easy to find but lacking the x-factor as far as decoration and furniture goes. I found the number of lunch options too little for a city centre restaurant.

3.5 stars: used to be better - Edit
They offer many vegan and organic dishes.
Read moreHowever, I don’t understand why they still have a few (lunch) items with eggs and dairy.
Although this place is nice and contains sufficient power plugs, it can get busy. The one at Amsterdamsestraatweg is quieter and more spacious.
I noticed that some of the foods that I used to love (kapsalon, pancakes and vegan shakshuka) have become less nice after recipe changes. Some mains miss a good protein source. On the other hand, their pastries are usually good: I really enjoyed their cheesecakes and lemon/poppyseed cake. In addition, some dishes have improved, e.g. Jacket sweet potato.

The venue is great, tables a little bit too close to each other (hearing the other conversations from guest next to you is not was not really what I wished for when going out for dinner).
Read moreStarter choices are good en delicious. Main course had some odd flavours in the vegan satay(saté). Desserts weer great.
We had the table next to the door and curtain. We asked for another table. And saw guest seated there moving to other tables as well. The curtain can be improved with magnets, or there could be a wooden board(roomdivider) placed next to the table. But i would rather suggest taking out this table and still place a wooden roomdivider there.

Delicious spot for lunch - Edit
A vegan, a vegetarian and a meat eater go to lunch at Gys… not the beginning of a joke, it was my luch today. We got two snack to share and lunch. Everyone was happy. The staff was friendly. We managed without a reservation for lunch on Saturday cause we sat outside. If you want in, make a reservation. I would love to go back to try their dinner.

We've had many very pleasant lunches and dinners at Gijs in the past. But lately (don't know exactly since when) things have changed. What's on the menu is not very refined or tasty any more. Last time the vegetables were almost raw (one could hardly cut through the big pieces of cauliflower) and it seemed that things on the plates did not really belong together.
