Lunch gem - Edit
There is always a vegan option, even in cakes. It's a cafeteria-style restaurant, the dishes come in M/L portions and taste great. For the price it's the best choice to have a quick lunch in Bautzen.

Wir waren im neuen Grünschnabel in der Reichenstraße. Cupcake, Eiscreme (Cocos und Melone), Aperol Spritz und die wilde Johanna waren super lecker. Auch das Team war sehr sympathisch und engagiert. Wir kommen wieder! :-)

Der beste Mittagstisch ever! - Edit
Von Montag bis Freitag gibt es jeden Tag ein anderes Essen und eine Suppe, zusätzlich einen Wocheneintopf. Mindestens ein veganes Essen ist täglich im Angebot, die anderen vegetarisch. Es schmeckt immer hervorragend! Als Nachtisch kannst du veganen Kuchen bestellen auch zum Mitnehmen.

There aren't many vegan or vegetarian options in Bautzen, so the Grünschnabel fulfills an important role by being there.

Lovely vegetarian and vegan restaurant. We had three different vegan burgers and a salad from the all time menu, very delicious and very affordable!

Nice food, not so good deserts - Edit
The dish of the day was very fresh and fulfilling (and we didn't ask for the large size plates) but the main desert was vegetaria, not vegan, so I ended up having a Muffin that tasted like air, very good texture but no flavours on it.

Your top vegetarian spot in Bautzen - Edit
Gruenschnabel is certainly worth a visit if you go to Bautzen. I went there this week and had a piece of cake (and a cupcake for takeout), which was both fine. The cake was vegan version of traditional German creme cakes, and the cupcake was a chocolate muffin with nuts and apples inside, and some kind of fairly solid vegan cream on top. Pretty good! The outdoor seating is great, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. And: just across the road, there is a butcher shop, so those vegetarians that are faint of heart will have to be very strong. I obviously hope that the veggie bistro will put the butcher out of business.
Read moreNow, the food is traditional vegetarian/vegan. It is not high-end, but rather like my mum would cook if she was vegetarian. Totally recommended. And the only option you have in Bautzen.
