Closed 😢 - Edit
I walked about a 1.4 miles as you had it opening soon. I asked neighborhood people about it and they said it was closed about a month or more. They added that Meagan was awesome but they don’t know if she is going to reopen. They said she had difficulty finding staff.
Read moreI still give it 5 stars for trying to have a plant based place to eat in a sea of non plant based places.
Pros: Must have been awesome.
Cons: I missed it.

The vegan breakfast burrito is what you want - Edit
Cold snowy day on my first time ever in Buffalo, and Grindhaus happened to have one of the best vegan breakfast burritos I've ever had. The yelp reviews are full of dorks that have never had coffee outside a hospital Goodyear waiting room so you can safely ignore those.

Best breakfast burrito! - Edit
Another person on Happy Cow mentioned they had the best breakfast burrito they’d ever had here. I wasn’t expecting to agree and almost ordered something else, but decided to check out the recommendation. I’m so glad I did. It was all that! Seasoned so perfectly, house-made tempeh bacon pieces, fresh greens, and tofu with a consistency that seemed to melt in my mouth. They also had really good coffee and of course plant-based milk options to make it even better.

Amazing cafe - Edit
Wow, just blown away from the food here!!!
Read moreEverything about Grindhaus was amazing and can't wait to come back and try more.
We got the breakfast burrito (not on the menu but they do have it!) and VLT (tempeh, lettuce, tomato). Both delicious. The breakfast burrito also had their signature marinated tempeh that legit tastes like bacon. Sooo smoky! Loved the dill in the burrito, it was different and I never would have thought to add dill to a tofu scramble, but it really works!
The VLT was on local artisan bread and was perfect! Cold brew coffee was on point and they have a variety of non dairy milks. We went for the oat milk (chobani brand) and it was so creamy! Also picked up a locally made biscotti. Perfection.
They have a number of little tables outside for eating, socially distanced style. Just go in to order either way!
Pros: Affordable and delicious, Everything is vegan w/ option to add dairy cheese, Awesome staff

great homemade food - Edit
This place is so cozy and welcoming. Kid-friendly, too with a shelving area full of games and coloring. Large menu with mostly vegan options. Order at the counter and they bring you your food.
Read moreIt was possibly an off day, but the staff seemed "off". Said they'd be right with us when we came in, but it wasn't clear that they'd be taking our order as opposed to seating us and did not seem to be in a friendly mood. I came in several years ago and had the opposite experience, so hoping it was a fluke.
Pros: great food, cozy spot
Cons: can be a bit of a wait to order

Super cute place! - Edit
Very cute place with tasty salads and sandwiches. Friendly staff and easygoing vibe. The dishes also have cute names, like the “Creature From the Beige Legume” chickpea-salad sandwich.

Decent, cute place - Edit
It is a nice, relaxed Cafe. Welcoming atmosphere, especially for studying/reading while sipping a coffee/tea.
Read moreThe staff was very friendly, the meals were prepared fast. However, I noticed some ingredients are highly processed and taken from packages (like crispy onions), which was disappointing.
The tea and cookie I ordered were decent, as was the sandwich.
For the price, the portion size was rather small. The flavour was also not that outrageous. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, just not outrageous, there are better dining places in Buffalo.
Overall decent, but for students it's for sure a nice place to hang out!
Pros: Many options, fast friendly service, Good place to chill & hang out, Quick fix for non-veg friends
Cons: Small portions for the price, Taste of the food is OK, but not amazing

Grindhaus - Edit
Just visited Grindhaus for the first time this past weekend. They were slammed due to Allentown Art Festival going on; but you would have never even guessed it. My two sandwiches were made within 5-10 minutes and they were both amazing. My friends also loved their food too.

Essential Allentown hot beverage & vegan lunch spot - Edit
Updated 4/25/19 to include more menu items I dig.
Read moreLove this place. Unassuming street corner cozy cafe with small kitchen, great staff, good music selection. Assorted tables & comfy chairs. Smoky tempeh apple “the wrap” is yummy, the tofu 'egg' salad wrap is especially great if you're a fan of dill and sweet pickle; can’t go wrong with the Tempeh VLT; but the Breakfast Wrap has been hard to ignore lately.
Give yourself a few minutes in case a few people are getting food or some coffees ahead of you...it's not a huge kitchen and everything is made to order. The owner/proprietor is awesome and I’m totally and completely smitten!
Great pour-over coffee, and decent tea selection. Will be back when I can.
Pros: good selection of vegan menu items, pour-over coffee, friendly & relaxed atmosphere

Really good tempeh! - Edit
Went to this cafe to work on my laptop for the day. There was great atmosphere and food. I had a combo meal with the VLT (tempeh BLT sandwich) with a lentil rice salad. So good!! However, I did also get a cold brew with soymilk and the coffee was too watery for cold brew. Would definitely go back for the food though.

Best Vegan Food in Buffalo - Edit
We visited Buffalo over Thanksgiving Break and let me tell you we tried a bunch of vegan friendly options around here--Grindhaus was the best! It was the only one we went to twice. Absolutely delicious food. Our sandwiches were delicious and I was super happy that they had hot chocolate and MINT HOT CHOCOLATE that were vegan. The chocolate mousse for dessert was amazing and rich. Just a huge huge fan of this place. The inside was cool too, very artsy which I love. It's in Buffalo's Allentown which is a super hip and cool neighborhood. Not to mention the prices were the best out of all the other restaurants we went to, and very nice staff.

Nice stop, but not completely vegan - Edit
We stopped to eat right before crossing the border. It was really nice to find such a convenient restaurant. The staff was friendly and fast.
Read moreNote: The mozzarella offered is only available in dairy form (no vegan option for mozzarella) however you can sub tofu.
Carmel apple cider: Really great apple cider. It was a really large portion as well.
Cinnamon hot chocolate: My partner really helped enjoyed this, I however would have preferred it plain. Either way it was really good hot chocolate.
$8.00 VLT: Really great flavor for the tempeh bacon. Huge sandwich and very filling.
$8.00 The Lorax: The spicy mayo was really good but a little spicy for me. My partner enjoyed it. The bread on both sandwiches was slightly toasted.
Overall we were happy with our stop and would stop in again. We were disappointed to see that they served honey.
Pros: Nice large sandwiches
Cons: Serve honey, Serve dairy

Vegan oasis in Buffalo - Edit
The menu offers so many unique vegan options that go beyond a quinoa bowl or avocado toast. We had a wrapper which featured an incredible bacon-style tempeh with apples, and another sandwich, the VLT, was also a bacon-style option. These were filling, and were not salty or oily. Service was excellent; the setting was fun.

Pretty good - Edit
They were out of the dished we wanted (VLT and slaw), so I had the egg salad, which was ok, though it didn’t resemble eggs very much, and my gf had the tuna wrap, which she says was pretty good.

Hot Chocolate is "knock your socks off" GOOD!!!!!! - Edit
So happy we finally stopped by this little gem! My husband and I each had the VLT with avocado ~ it was incredible! My friend ordered the eggless egg salad sandwich which was also very tasty! However, if you only come here for one thing, you must try the vegan hot chocolate! I don't know how they do it, but it is the best hot chocolate you will ever taste! :). cannot wait to come back

Disappointed - Edit
With so few vegan options in the area we were really hoping to like this one. We took my wife's mother and brother who are not vegan. We each had a wrap or sandwich and a side and none of us were impressed. Some were okay and some weren't very good. Decent if you want to grab a coffee and quick bite, but not worth going if you and your family are hungry and want good food.
