Multiple empty levels, slow, very fatty food. - Edit
I'm glad others loved this place. My experience was different, unfortunately. There are multiple levels, all empty. i.e. I was the only customer, among many staff. My food (veg thali) took ages, and was very fatty - I couldn't finish it. Hopefully my poor experience was just an anomaly.

Excellent spot - Edit
Just ask for removal of any non-vegan ingredients (mostly cheese seems to be heavy at this restaurant). Friendly staff and the ice cubes are made from filtered water so enjoy iced beverages and relax!

Delicious - Edit
The tofu burger here is delicious. Ask to make sure it’s vegan as that add mayo if you don’t say something. Prices included all the hidden charges so it usually works out cheaper here even though it doesn’t seem like it from looking at the menu. It serves meat so that’s why four stars. A nice place is you a looking for a fancy feel.

Excellent & central - Edit
In the heart of the hotel district, upstairs above the crowded streets, this little restaurant has a great range of veg options, including the Nepali standard known as momos (dumplings), lots of curries, noodle soup, etc. The staff are super friendly, and the prices reasonable. They say their fresh produce comes from thier own farm, and the greens seemed very fresh and home-grown, so I’m a believer.

very nice - Edit
I had the lentil soup and then the bean and tofu curry. Also a papaya Julie. I showed them the vegan passport app first in Nepalese which they understood and made sure there was dairy or animal products used. Would recommend.

Can you find a better food in Kathmandu? - Edit
This restaurant is the best place to eat that I found in Kathmandu. Green Organic Cafe is not vegetarian restaurant, but there is a plenty of choices for vegetarians in the menu. Vegans should be careful. Food is organic, tasty and prepared very well. My favorite was Tofu and Beans Curry. Prices are very affordable. Place is beautiful. You can chose to seat at the regular chairs and table, or on the ground. Staff are very kind and polite. We spoke to staff members and, between other things, they told us where to buy a good quality organic spices in Kathmandu. Honest recommendations.

good place overall but vegans need to be careful - Edit
This place serves good food, and is probably worth visiting while in the Thamel area. However the wait staff, polite and helpful as they were, had no idea of veganism or I guess dietary requirements at all (which, of course, are uncommon in Nepal). So it was necessary to check that each dish was vegan (by going through all dairy products and egg), at the time of ordering and when it was delivered (for components of a set meal). Be especially careful with breads, eg Nan always contains milk (and usually egg) but the staff won't think of this when they offer it to you right after ordering a curry without dairy products. While the food, staff and atmosphere were good overall, I thought this place was overpriced for what it serves.
