Read moreThe concept is a buffet by weight to avoid food waste. There is a clear cruelty free, environmental friendly vibe which I appreciate the most.
There's no fanciness, or restaurant feeling. So if you're looking for a traditional restaurant experience you may not find it here. If food taste and concept is what you care about, you won't be disappointed.
Location is good and in spring/summer it has a nice terrace where sun shines.
100% recommended.
Pros: Paying by weight concept , inexpensive, delicious food.

Many options to choose from. All dishes were vegan and good. Food is paid by weight, which is a good way to avoid waste. However, you won't know how much it will cost until you come to the register and put the food to the scale.
Read moreBread is included in the price. Unfortunately fresh rolls were out but there was rye bread with 3 different vegan spreads. New batch of freshly made bread came just as we were finishing the meal and I didn' t have chance to try it.
They also have various vegan desserts available. We tried the carrot cake which was delicious.

My go to places in Tampere for vegan food. Price can easily get quite high because its based on the weight of the food and everything looks delicious so I end up picking alot of food on my plate.

I visited here after a recommendation from a local friend, and I was thoroughly impressed! The food was great, there was a lot of variety and everything was vegan. It was very soulful and definitely set me up for a long day exploring Tampere!

I visit Tampere regularly and eat at Gopal every single time I’m here. The food is delicious and always freshly made on location. The atmosphere is super cozy, the staff is friendly and the location conveniently close to the train station. Highly recommended!

Gopal is a nice small alternative restaurant, where u can create ur own platter. When I was there the whole buffet was vegan, but u can ask the staff. My platter was around 15€. And u can grab tea and bread for free.

The atmosphere is very cozy, and the food is very very good. Bread and tea are included, and it works as a self service. The price is 22€/kilo, which sounds good but can result tricky. You don't realise how much you're taking and you easily end up spending more than you wanted to.

Salad and Indian Style buffet (when we were there). All food options were vegan and really tasty! Staff/owner? was very friendly and explained everything in German(!) 22,00 €/kg. Free tea, bread and water. Only non vegan item I saw, was honey for the tea.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in my home town. I have been eating here since they opened in 1990s. I love-love the food, the owner, the staff and the atmosphere. You take what you want from a buffet and pay according to the weight. They have a nice small sitting area outside, which is lovely in the summer. Gopal is very relaxed place - and also very popular. It can be quite full during lunch time. It closes for evening, so go early enough. 😊

The original Gopal! The food is great and the buffet selection is larger than in Cafe Gopal in the city centre. The food is well spiced, the warm foods are hearty and the salads fresh and versatile. I find the interior really beautiful, warm and cozy with huge amount of plants and colours.

I´ve been going here for years when ever I visit Tampere. I love the buffet with the spreads, salads and Indian-style food. They also have some vegan cakes and traditional carrot cake is lovely.

Gopal makes me want to visit Tampere as often as possible. The food is simply so wonderful. There are so many varieties and taste is so delicious. Luckily they have very small plates, otherwise I would overeat and pay a fortune as you pay by weight. Still I can fit a lot of food on my plate. Sometimes they have cookies or cake too, but Cafe Gopal have a better variety of sweets in additional to a similar lunch. Sometimes I walk from Gopal to Cafe Gopal for desert :)

I've picked up lovely lunches here a few times and the food is great! You choose what you want, the staff weigh it and you pay per grams. It's good as you get exactly the right amount and don't end up paying for food you didn't want.
