The temple offers free vegetarian meals daily. To find the serving area, head to the south section of the temple complex and follow the crowd to where volunteers are handing out silverware & plates. Wasting food is not allowed, so decline any items you don't wish to eat. The rice porridge is made with coconut milk; the chapatti is typically coated with butter. Open Mon-Sun 4:00am-10:00pm.

Great experience - Edit
I’m not entirely sure if what we ate was vegan. We enquired with some of the staff/volunteers but they only spoke Hindi and were baffled about the idea of not eating ghee. They said that the rice, bread, pumpkin curry & dhal were fine to eat. They definitely use a lot of ghee here as we saw tonnes of empty cans when we were leaving. You’re probably best booking into a tour where you properly go into the kitchen and speak to the cooks to find out what’s vegan.

Free and tasty food - Edit
Lentils and peas with bread and Indian version of rice pudding and water to drink. It was very delicious and they keep giving you food if you want. So grateful for this hole experience. Of course we left a donation.

Amazing - Edit
The lentil dhal and chickpea curry is vegan and so tasty. When the bread is served plain it is also vegan. The rice was mixed with milk when we were there but the food was amazing and what they do there is so incredible and humbling. Try and get to see where all the food is made behind the scenes - the staff there are super keen to show you!

One of the human wonders of the world - Edit
I don't use the term "must-see" often, but here the shoe fits. It's immensely heartwarming to be with an ocean of humans and feel at home, cradled in kindness. The volunteers here serve many thousands of people every day and smile through it all.
Read moreNo meat or eggs are served, but some items contain dairy, so vegans need to be on their toes to decline politely anything with dairy (as wastage is prohibited and one really should respect that here).
Enjoy!

Really awesome - Edit
Free kitchen run mostly by volunteers that feeds 70,000-100,000 people per day with free vegetarian meals.
Read moreGet your cup/spoon/plate from the entry area and follow others to take a seat on the floor in rows. Sit down, put your plate in front of you, and people will come by to put various items on your plate. DO NOT take any foods you don't plan to eat completely. Wasting food here is highly offensive. The bread is not vegan, from my understanding.
The vegetables, lentils & rice should be vegan.
After you finish, follow people out the door to drop off your utensils to volunteers who are washing dishes.
Follow others for cues on where to go/what to do. Ask questions, if needed. It's very welcoming to outsiders, and they know it's probably you're first time eating there.
Pros: Free vegetarian meals, Super friendly
Cons: Bread isn't vegan
