Good breakfast and cake

Wasn't expecting much from the breakfast having seen one of the previous reviews but actually it was really tasty and very filling. It's the vegetarian breakfast without the egg but with a hash brown instead (I ordered an extra hash brown too).
Got the vegan chocolate cake to go and warmed it back up when I got home - so good! Very rich.

Traditional British tea room

Excellent location, traditional British cafe vibe, has huge indoor and outdoor seating area. The garden is my favourite place to sit and enjoy the great food.

The lady on the till was helpful, telling me that the vegan options were already listed on the menu and to just come back and order when we were ready. Once we had ordered we didn't have to wait long.

I had the vegetable soup which was very hearty, with some freshly made bread rolls and sunflower spread (you will need to ask for these). For £5.50 how could you fall off? To drink I had the decaf tea, sadly they didn't offer any alternative milks at the time I was there to go into it.

If you're visiting Goathland and need a quick bite I highly recommend this place.

Pros: Good vegan options, Reasonable price, Stunning venue

Cons: Lack of non-dairy milks

Said they'd do vegan breakfast, but didn't

We'd seen the vegan options online and decided to make a special visit. We arrived at Goathland by train and planned to take a walk. It was already 11am and we knew they finished breakfast at noon, but the menu said "you can always ask".

We walked up from the station to pop in and ask if they would do us 5 vegan breakfasts later in the day, after our walk. They said "you should be fine" and that it's just because they sometimes get busy. I asked if it would be fine or not, because there were five of us and we'd be heading back, and the lady said it would be.

When we got back, we queued for a while. We tried to order, but were told they were too busy. They were quite rude, and offered us beans on toast instead.

There was soup and jacket potato with beans on the menu, too, but none of it was particularly inspiring or appealing to our children.

We ended up stumbling upon the Coach House at the Mallyan House hotel, which has loads of vegan options clearly marked including vegan cheese for sandwiches, soup, vegan hot chocolate, etc. They had very friendly service and were really helpful - in stark contrast to the Goathland Tea Rooms.

We'd been looking forward to making a return visit at the end of the day for vegan scones, but didn't really feel like it after our lunchtime experience.

Pros: Vegan options clearly marked , Multiple vegan options

Cons: Rude staff, Poor service, Uninspiring food

Lovely day out for lunch and cake

We were so happy to get a seat outside in the garden. The cook was very accommodating doing a vegan breakfast and Linda McC sausage sandwich mid-afternoon. The breakfast was basic but tasty and the sandwich was a good size and also yum. All of it freshly cooked and not greasy at all. Also had an excellent light fresh baked sultana scone and the special chocolate cake of the day which was so moist and good. Though a few more options wouldn’t go amiss, what they had was great and not too expensive at all in a tourist tea room.

Pros: Vegan baking is excellent, Tasty savoury options

Cons: Other savoury sandwich options would be great

Glad to find somewhere with vegan options

Thanks to Happy Cow I knew there was somewhere in z Goathland that had vegan options. Went to the wrong place first but then found the right one

There are some vegan options - a vegan breakfast up to noon, a Linda McCartney sausage sandwich, vegetable soup, and jacket potatoes with vegan options eg baked beans or chilli

I went with the vegan chilli jacket potato. So how was it? Well the potato tasted like it had been warmed up and the texture suggested the same - to be fair this is understandable, the wait for the food might otherwise have been too long. The chilli was tasty - but not hit enough to be called a chilli. Again - I suppose they have to err on the bland side so as not to provide something too hot. There was a salad with the jacket potato but disappointingly had no salad dressing - just plain lettuce, cucumber, carrot and radish. A bit of dressing would have vastly improved it

Overall though - very pleased to find vegan options, especially after trying the tea room at the other end of the green - when we asked if they had vegan options the answer was ‘no - unless you can find something among the biscuits’ - now THAT was disappointing in this day and age.. happily we then found the right place at the other end of the green

Pros: Some vegan options , Prices fair

Charming garden

A couple of wholesome if unexciting vegan options at this cafe in tourist hot spot Goathland. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Swift service means you can fit in a reviving meal between trains if you’re riding the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Great cafe

This is a lovely cafe with some good vegan options. The staff are friendly and there is cosy seating indoors and outdoors in the beautiful garden if you manage to get a nice weather day! We had vegan chili on jacket potato and soup which was all tasty. The best part was the vegan scone afterwards!

Pros: vegan options, good service, tasty food

Lovely outdoor seating and great service

This is a lovely place but make sure when ordering the vegan chilli that you ask for them to not put egg on the salad which is done as standard

Cozy café with vegan options

Went for my pescetarian mother's birthday lunch on our way out to the coast. I was expecting to have to eat beforehand and only have a light snack, so the offering of vegan food in isolated Goathland was a pleasant surprise. Their vegan chili was delicious, and served within a well-cooked jacket potato (nice crispy skin!). They were very good at distinguishing between vegan & vegetarian, and have an allergen book to hand for if there are any queries. Afterwards I had a vegan sultana scone, which they served with a vegan spread and jam. Very nice! Gluten free options also available. They serve Taylors of Harrogate tea and coffee.

Pros: Tasty food, Great coffee, Multiple vegan options

Cons: Cash only below £10, As least one vegan option only labeled dairy-free
