Beautiful Vegan Okinomiyaki - Edit
This was a great find in Kyoto. A small restaurant hidden down a lane way. On arrival I stated I was vegan and they gave me a vegan menu. They had vegan mayonnaise and vegan sweet sauce. The vegan okinomiyaki was delicious and the experience was perfect. Highly recommend

Traditional Japanese experience - Edit
Come here to try vegan teppanyaki on tatami mats! The restaurant is located in a picturesque neighborhood and has a very cozy atmosphere inside. We had to wait 30 mins for two people on a weeknight but I think it’s worth it! I got vegan okonomiyaki, which was pretty good- like a giant veggie pancake with BBQ sauce.

Vegan Okonomiyaki - Edit
This place has vegan and nonvegan options. We tried the vegan Okonomiyaki, one version with udon and another without. We preferred the one without udon. Its was crispy, savory, and filling. And we got the best seats facing the Gion Tatsumi Bridge. Would highly recommend that you check it out. And we would advise to give yourself enough time because it fills up very quickly and has limited space.

Not worth the wait - Edit
The reviews that mentioned the food not being worth it were the ones I wish I listened to. I appreciate that they had vegan options and dedicated sauces, but simply put the food was not good nor was it worth waiting for. The noodles might be good though, they looked good!

Bring time - Edit
The food was good (but not overwhelmingly good) and the experience of sitting next to kitchen where the cooks prepare your oknomiyaki is cool. However, we had to wait in a queue for over an hour and to be honest, the food was not worth waiting outside for such a long time, even though it wasn't bad.

Great food and great atmosphere - Edit
We waited approx 30 mins at 7:30pm on a weekend, but it was definitely worth it! Great okonomayaki, and possibly the best yakisoba I have ever had. The yuba salad is no longer on the vegan menu but we asked and they said it was still vegan, and was nice.

Long line for not so good food - Edit
We had to make a 1 hour line to get in. We even make friends with some people during the line that were not vegan and after the night we both agree that it was overrated.

YAY!!! VEGAN OKONOMIYAKI! WOOOOOOO!!!
Read moreOk for real this place was awesome. It was the longest I’ve ever had to wait in line for food but dang so worth it! We waited about an hour and 40 minutes from 6 pm, so get there before it opens to secure your spot folks! Staff have an entirely vegan menu so just ask for it when you go into the waiting room (yes there’s a waiting room after you’ve lined up outside for ages)
The vegan noodles were to die for. The okonomiyaki was also pretty bangin’, and I really loved that they brought over vegan sweet sauce and vegan Mayo as they knew we were using the vegan menu.
A must visit on your trip to Kyoto! Leave plenty of time for that que though 😁
Pros: A whole vegan menu , Cheap drinks , THE NOODZ!!!
Cons: Very, very, VERY long que.

A great, traditional Japanese restaurant - Edit
Would give 5 stars if HappyCow allowed it! We loved our visit here! A full vegan menu, although you have to ask for it as it is separate from the regular menu and it’s not displayed. We waited over an hour for a table after arriving at around 7:45pm. Be aware that although it closes at 10pm, they closed the queue at around 8:45pm as there were many people waiting. They have a full range of vegan sauces too, and these are clearly labelled. Some tables are floor seating, others are dug out into the floor. Not wheelchair friendly unfortunately, or suitable for those who need chairs with back support.

Vegan possibilities - Edit
This busy traditional Japanese griddle restaurant (teppanyaki) has vegetarian options for its main dishes. Though other reviewers said they waited a long time to be seated, we two waited less than 10 minutes after we arrived at 12:30pm. We ordered green onion pancake (negiyaki) and vegetable pancake (okonomiyake) plus a small beer , which wasn’t so small but was the perfect accompaniment to the two main dishes. There is an English menu.

Teppanyaki cooking. Multiple vegan options for this “pancake” offering. The mochi and corn version with green chilli was delicious. Great place when eating with non-vegans/vegetarians as something for everyone. Arrived at 5pm and seated immediately. There are only around 15 seats, so recommend arriving on opening.

Their vegan menu while small is an absolute dream, had to wait a small bit to get in but definitely worth it. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. To any worried of cross contamination the surface the food is given on is completely clean and spotless.

Good okonomiyaki! - Edit
Allocated menu item for plain okonomiyaki that is vegan and vegetarian. Topping options are available that are still vegetarian, some vegan (egg, scallions, soba, etc.). Delicious, and nice location! Seating either on the floor or at the bar area, and shoes are taken off before entering.

Worth the wait? - Edit
Had a great mochi corn okinomiyaki here, but wouldn’t queue again. I have seen a long queue (down the bridge) here many nights so I decided to get in line when I spotted a short-ish queue one night. Got unlucky and still waited for an hour as there was also a waiting area inside. The food was great and I had a good time with other people in the queue but wouldn’t go again unless there was no line. If you’ve never had the experience however it might be worth it - though I’d recommend booking a spot at Kamehameha (also in Kyōto) so you don’t have to wait.
