Large menu

The com Chay labels vegetable choices either usually only 1 and the rest is fake meat. There’s also a large menu to order from. They are usually busy so service is not full of warmth. There’s no English spoken but you can point up the food you want. Standard Vietnamese restaurant that is worth visiting if you are nearby. More expensive than comparable restaurants with the food the same quality but less choice on the com chay.

It's alright

This place is extremely popular with locals but I'm not sure why as the food is pretty average and a little expensive for what it is... there's many better com chay places nearby

My go to com chay for years.

I first came to this vegan restaurant around 20 years ago when I backpacked the country. I've been coming here ever since.
Cheap. Basic. Affordable.
Their crispy fried noodles are excellent. Highly recommend.

Best value for money in the area

I think this place ought to have two $$ for the price instead of only one $, as it's not cheap by local standards but it is definitely a local restaurant (i.e. not aimed at tourists or Westerners). That said, I think that the food is the best value for money out of the nearby vegetarian restaurants. It's not exceptional but it's pretty good and there is a big selection. You'll have to fight to get the attention of the staff but as other reviewers have noted, this isn't particularly unusual in Vietnamese restaurants!

Pros: Good value for money, Extensive menu, Easy to find

Cons: Staff not friendly or helpful, No English

If you don't mind order by pointing on the menu, this restaurant is highly recommended. Staff speaks no English :-(

Does the Job

There are far better places around but the other two places nearby were unexpectedly closed, so I thought I'd give this place a go and was just pleased to find something as had to get my flight.
It is a very basic set up but they sell food to order or from a buffet at very low prices.
No English spoken.
Food does the job when you're hungry

Pros: Cheap, Open early

Cons: Very basic, Very limited English

Standard rice option plus broader menu

I had an ok plate of the usual rice plus mixed veg and mock meats. There is a much broader menu including hot pot, but you will have to do your own translation. When I dined, the place was busy and the staff had only limited interest in assisting.

Whilst this place is a relatively cheap option for Saigon, it's a little more expensive and you get slightly less for your money than at equivalent places.

Pros: cheap(ish)

Cons: no English

Giac Duc, Ho Chi Minh

I stumbled on this place by chance (at time of writing the map marker is pointing to the incorrect place I 've just submitted a request for that to be corrected). It has a big front right on the corner and so is easy to spot.

I showed the waitress a Vietnamese text and pictorial representation of what vegan means. She replied indicating there's no egg, dairy nor honey added used in preparing the food. Whether though that also includes the mock meats, you need someone with better grasp of Vietnamese than me to ask. There is still though an abundace of dishes without mock meat to choose from for those who prefer.

There's a whole bunch of food laid out in the counter. Me and my co diner thought the food was inexpensive and tasty. we've just filled up for lunch for 138 000 dong. Your dong seems to go a long way in that place.

Pros: Vegan friendly, Inexpensive & tasty

Ok place

I went here in Jan 2011. My stir fry was fine but luke warm. It did come with some nice ginger flavoured soup that again was luke warm. The fact that nothing was hot made me wonder how long ago it had been prepared.

Pros: easy to find

food is ok, Service not that great

This restaurant is more like a food to go place back in the states. The food is ok, with lots of fake chicken and beef, which I don't particularly like since most are synthetic stuff from China. There are not a lot of vegetable choices. I think they only had one tray of brocoli or green beans. The seaweed soup is good.
The service is not very nice. When you come, the staff just stare at you or ignore you until you get their attention. I don't know, but this happens a lot at VN everyday restaurants. Maybe it's just a Vietnamese thing.

Pros: good selcction, easy to find

Cons: lots of processed fake meat, not enough vegetables options, bad service

Terrible food but inexplicably popular

Although the variety is impressive, the food has gotten progressively worse over the last year.

Pros: terrible food

Cons: large facility, variety
