Great Food

I love Georgetown. I only wish it were closer to me. The produce selection is small, but it's 100% organic (something that can't be said for Wild Oats or Sunflower). The deli and juice are wonderful. Vegan options are clearly noted and usually make up half the menu. This is a great place for a quick, healthy lunch.

Update: Still love Georgetown, though I tend to only shop in the bulk section (good prices there) and eat at the deli. Some nice vegan options every day and they often have vegan treats like pumpkin pie and oatmeal chocolate cookies.

Pros: Great juice bar, Divine vegan cookies, Tasty and super-healthy deli

wonderful natural foods store

Now Georgetown market is a bit of a drive and if you are coming from downtown Indy its not really worth the trek unless you actually are from Indy and live in Indy, then you really need to know about this place, its fabulous inside and has a great cafe attached to it. That being said, if you're going to make a trek somewhere from downtown Indy looking for vegan food this might be a little bit of a stretch for no reason and probably Pogue's Run or Whole Foods. Don't miss out on all the prepared food in the refrigerated sections there are lots of fun vegan prepared foods.

Pros: beautiful new place, cafe, prepared vegan foods

My Go-To

GM is the #1 place I shop, mostly because it is the closest place for me to get some of the products I most frequently use. The produce section is rather small, but I usually buy produce at the farmers' market and rarely rely on GM for more than a quick ingredient to hold me over. Their selection is limited, but they do have an expanding variety of specialty products that can be difficult to find other places. The downside is that their prices are often higher than at other stores that carry the same/similar products (such as Kroger, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods).

The cafe has a hot and a cold bar, which always have several vegan offerings (although the choices can be a bit hit-or-miss). I frequently stop in to grab a quick dinner or lunch on the weekend. There is usually a vegan soup choice, and they almost always have vegan baked goods on the shelf (cupcakes/pie slices/banana bread). I LOVE the juice bar as well. Mmmmm!

Support local business, buy organic, go to Georgetown Market!

Pros: many specialty products, vegan baked goods, hot, cold, and juice bar

Cons: price

wish I could go more often!

This is a great place I wish I could visit more often, but it's not in a convenient location for me. This place is HUGE as far as local health food stores are concerned. It's laid out like a normal grocery store, so items are easily located. Their bulk section is pretty good. I love that they have a juice/smoothie bar, along with hot and cold prepared foods, and VEGAN BAKED GOODS! The baked goods are normally super delicious, which again, makes me which I lived closer. They normally have most of the things I need, other than produce. I think since it's all organic, they can't always have everything everyone will ever need.

Pros: Vegan baked goods, juice bar

Cons: Location, Small produce section

Good Vegan Options

Nice grocery store offering tons of vegan products. What is great about this place is that it's a locally owned organic and health oriented store. They have an amazing juice bar, a decent hot bar, and a fair selection of vegan baked goods, usually made daily. As far as the vegan options offered in their eatery, at times they may be hit or miss; it really depends on who is doing the cooking. They have an amazing and talented cook named Silvia, but she only works a few days per week. She comes up with creative and tasty dishes that clearly outshine the other cooks they have there. When she isn't working, the other cooks tend to treat the vegan options as side dishes for the meat dishes and these dishes will usually be on the bland and plain side. However, overall, in a city that severely lacks good vegan options and has not even one exclusively vegan restaurant, this place is a pretty much a sure bet. Some of the everyday prepared options like the tofu based eggless salad are awesome when made as a sandwich. Until Indianapolis moves itself in the direction of a modern, forward thinking progressive city, Georgetown Market will somewhat satisfy the needs of the vegans and vegetarians who reside or visit here. However, be forewarned, I have caught this place labeling items as vegan that weren't actually vegan. For example, in the past they have offered pad Thai and labeled it as vegan but the sauce they used was oyster based. I let them know and going forward, they properly labeled it. Then, one day I went in and it was labeled as vegetarian. I was like, huh? Sea animals aren't vegetarian in the least! I went ahead and informed the general manager with the hope they can correct these mistakes in the future.

Pros: Silvia, Good Amount of Options, Grocery Store

Cons: See Review
