Best vegan pastry i've had - Edit
Half their product is vegan! I've never seen such a varied array of vegan pastry, from croissant to entremet to flan. The cronuts are a must try.

Epic croissants - Edit
I got the vegan almond croissants and I would place this amongst one of the best baked goods (vegan or before-vegan) I have ever consumed. Can’t wait to visit again and try more things.

No longer mostly vegan - Edit
I love the vegan croissants, cronuts, and other desserts, but I have to take a star off because they've been making more and more non-vegan items that always look amazing before disappointing me with the little n.v. initials.

Pros: Lots of vegan options
Cons: The ones I want are never vegan

Hello,
Read moreWe offer 50% of our menu as vegan options, it takes a lot of work to make a good vegan item and we don't just substitute or make a look alike, if you are only drawn to the nv options it is cause they are non vegan the vegan version of the same item would not have the same appeal or flavour. We wish to offer all vegan but it isn't enough to support our bakery day to day. Thank you for the support and hope to see you again

Super tasty! - Edit
This is one of my favourite bakeries in the city now. Vegan croissants are awesome, i missed pain au Chocolat and theirs are great. It's worth noting that not everything is vegan so be sure to ask the person working.

Guilt free - Edit
Saw an ad on Instagram. I looked up the directions and was pleasantly surprised with the selection. Plus putting an order for pick up the next day for croissants...melt in your mouth so good.

Delicious! - Edit
I have never been to Gâto's actual storefront, but I have visited their stall at the South Osborne Farmer's Market. Usually, I've just purchased bread (delicious, very crusty) because if I bought every delicious-looking dessert at the farmer's market I would be broke and never need to eat again. But I splurged and bought myself this yummy vegan strawberry chocolate dessert thing. Essentially, it's a croissant chopped in half with strawberries and chocolate sandwiched between the halves and also on top. The strawberries are locally sourced from Jardins St. Léon, which only adds to the yumminess! It was $4.00 which is honestly pretty cheap for an artisanal baked good with fresh local strawberries. The dessert was messy (not helped by the fact that it kind of got tumbled around on the way home) but totally worth it.
Read moreI'm only taking a star off because the storefront itself is in the opposite end of town from me and they're only at the SOFM every other week.
Pros: Uses local ingredients!, Vegan items clearly labelled, Lovely staff
Cons: Too far away from me :(
