Amazing place - Edit
Pretty cute place with amazing vegan food. I had an Italian hero sandwich and it was delicious, from the bread to the filling. Everything looked tasty, will definitely visit again next time I’m in NYC!

Amazing spot! - Edit
I stop by the Garden Carver almost once a week to have this spicy chicken sandwich. Being from the south this is the closest thing I have to true, vegan, comfort food around here. I’ve tried many of their other options; the pizza is to die for, the truffle mac and cheese is really good, creamy, with a little crunch, and the smash burger has these amazing caramelized onions. The sauce they use on the pasta is all handmade according to the chef and it’s an amazing choice as well! I once stopped by for lunch and ate a whole thing of the pimento cheese they have in the glass display, it’s just THAT good! You will not be disappointed trying this place out.

Very Underwhelming - Edit
I had high hopes for GC from the write ups I’ve seen , but it unfortunately was a one and done for me. I ordered the truffle Mac n cheese, which came as one stale giant block that wouldn’t separate and if it weren’t for the truffle sprinkled on top would otherwise lack any flavor. I also ordered the French bread pizza, think one step above a heated Elio’s. Lastly, I tried the Spicy Rigatoni with Meatballs, the pasta was so over cooked and soft it was hard to fork. There is so much competition for vegan spots in NY, these problems shouldn’t be tolerated.
Read moreThe meatballs were great, which came as no surprise since I was told the meatball hero was their best seller.
Verdict: if you go try the meatball hero and forget the rest of the menu, which clearly needs a revamp.

Great vegan deli-style foods - Edit
I thought I'd never have an Italian sandwich again. After all, what makes it an Italian is largely the non-vegan ingredients. But Garden Carver had a vegan Italian sandwich that really brought me back. It was worth the price.

Amazing options - Edit
We went for dinner and shared a burger. It was amazing, and different than the traditional lettuce, onion, tomato burger that I’m used to getting. Particularly loved the bun!
