Such a bummer they’re offering fish and meat as an add on to their other dishes, so I can not give 5 stars - which their vegan dishes definitely would deserve! Also I don’t understand it, because the menu here is insanely good as it is without dead animals.

The food was great. I especially LOVED the oyster mushroom starter that my friend ordered. The staff was lovely and gave us a superb wine recommendation. Unfortunately though, the main dish (truffle pasta) and dessert (white chocolate cream) that sounded best to me weren't vegan!

Die Gärtnerei bietet eine große Auswahl an veganen Gerichten an. Es gehört zu den eher gehobeneren vegetarisch/veganen Restaurants in Essen, aber ist jeden Cent wert. Geschmacklich war wirklich alles unglaublich gut und schön angerichtet! Das Lokal ist schön angerichtet und das Personal freundlich! Ich persönlich finde es gut, dass auch eine Fleisch/Fisch Option angeboten wird, so kann man auch in einer großen Gruppe hin und jeder wird fündig!

On my first visit I chose the corn croquettes, the smoked tofu risotto and the Snickers chocolate mousse. Everything tasted wonderful. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is interesting and pleasantly rustic. There are many tables, but booking in advance is essential. It is critical to note that the additional option “Coward” would not be necessary for special orders of meat and fish. The prices for this upscale cuisine are correspondingly high.

Our first visit was on a tapas special evening. I was delighted with the atmosphere, the tasteful interior, the warm hospitality of the staff and the wonderful food. The staff was always there, explained everything, made recommendations and was super friendly, even when all the tables were full. Most of the menu was vegan or with a vegan option and the dishes were very colourful and delicious.
Read moreOf course the cuisine is a bit higher-priced, but perfect for a special occasion. I would, however, do without the "coward" option on the menu, which is why I deducted a point. Have a look at the events (e.g. brunch & specials) that the restaurant offers from time to time. Always make sure to book well in advance!

Das Personal war super nett und ich habe mich in der Gärtnerei aber sehr wohl gefühlt.

Ich mag das Ambiente und im Menü ist für jede:n etwas dabei. Und dabei dennoch angenehm übersichtlich.

Ich hatte den Melonensalat und den Brokkoli in Tempura und fand beides super lecker und auch satt machend. Werde definitiv auch im Herbst oder Winter mal was von der Karte probieren.
Einziger Kritikpunkt ist die Lautstärke im hinteren Bereich des Restaurants.

Hier gibt's einige vegane Vorspeisen, Hauptgerichte und Desserts. Die Gerichte waren für mich ein echtes Geschmackserlebnis. Auch ein Mehrgänge Menü ist dort erhältlich. Sehr zu empfehlen.

I personally find this quite unnecessary and would prefer the restaurant would keep true to its claim. There are enough paying customers for a fully vegetarian place who would prefer a fully veg menu.
