Delicious vegan burger! - Edit
An oasis in the sea of mediocre impossible burgers in the keys. Really delicious Cuban vegan burger and super friendly staff. Would definitely return!

Amazing vegan fritas - Edit
The Impossible fritas is a great vegan option. (Without the egg and cheese). I’d also recommend the garlic oil cilantro yuka fries and an almond milk cafe con leche. This was the perfect hangover meal! The staff is super friendly too!

Very interesting food - Edit
We had a sampler of all sides, which was really great. (And a lot, even for 3 people)
Read moreNext to that I had the impossible frita, which was not very special and also rather small.
Nevertheless the sides were so amazing I would go again.

No really good options for vegans! - Edit
I ordered an vegan Impossible Burger, had to specify, what vegan means, and ended up with a rather bald tasting bun with juliene fries, onions, ketchup and the Impossible Burger Patty. We asked in advance, if they had vegan options, which they said they would have, but what we got wasn't really what we hoped for. They still don't seem to know what vegan means - so be careful!
Read morePros: Nice staff, Cheap
Cons: No vegan options at all that can be made vegan, Staff thinks "vegan" means "vegeterian"
Fritas
We know what vegan means. However we are bilingual and with all menu items this may involve a patient conversation. We have many vegan options. You ordered an impossible burger with julienne potatoes, onion and a homemade ketchup. Please feel free to explain the non vegan aspects of this menu item.

Vegans be careful! - Edit
Their staff are not well informed about the difference between vegan and vegetarian, and they give inconsistent info on what is ok for vegans. I had walked past a couple of days before our visit and asked the person taking orders what options they had. She was not able to say much other than that they had vegan options. Upon returning to eat, an older woman was there (likely the owner) and we discussed options. She said that she describes several dishes as vegetarian because they cook their Impossible Burgers on the same grill as the "regular" burgers, and she thinks that some vegans are fussy about that. But, wouldn't vegetarians want to know that, too? I credit then for telling me this, and that's not a deal killer for me. I am married to an omni and need to make compromises, so I don't worry about cross-contamination But, the fact that they label otherwise vegan dishes as vegetarian in order to avoid complaints from fussy vegans revealed to me that they are not really interested in serving vegans.
Read moreMore troubling, I had to press them to confirm whether the Cuban bread was ok. The server didn't know. The owner did it was not. Indeed, Cuban bread has LARD. They offered to make a Impossible Frita Burger using tostones (fried plantain patties) instead of the bread,, and it worked quite nicely. But, after taking a few bites I realized that they added CHEESE and had left off the onions and sauce that were supposed to be on it. They were appropriately contrite and offered to make a new one. But, it was slow to come - much longer than the original order. Restaurants usually prioritize fixing their mistakes, but it appeared that they just added the reorder to back off the line. My wife ate as slowly as she could, but she was finished long before my re-order arrived. They cleared her plates, and the owner asked if we wanted to order dessert while I was still waiting! By the time it arrived, I had started to feel a little sick to my stomach - perhaps because I had just eaten cheese for the first time in years. I couldn't eat the meal, although I had arrived hungry and the portion was not that large.
I cannot recommend Fritas for vegans.
Pros: They do offer vegan options , Beautiful outdoor garden setting
Cons: Careless with vegan order, Slow to fix mistake, Staff not adequately trained in vegan requirements
