Serves meat, vegan options available. As of Nov 2016, the only restaurant in Copenhagen/Frederiksberg that does vegan smorrebrod which includes vegan butter with the bread. Has a vegan version of the breaded fish topping, that instead used breaded pieces of turnip, with a vegan tarter sauce and lemon on the side, as well as avocado with salted almonds. NOTE: vegan options served at lunch until 4pm; evening menu contains no vegan options. Open Mon-Thu 11:00-01:00, Fri-Sat 11:00-02:00, Sun 11:00-01:00.

A solid 3 from me

These guys have two vegan smørrebrød options on their lunch menu and they are really good. Service is super friendly and there's plenty to drink.

We had both the potato smørrebrød and the avocado one, plus a couple of beers, and we were very happy. Could easily have repeated the entire round. 😁

That's it. If you want a smørrebrød lunch, this is a great place. Don't go for dinner. They aren't a vegan restaurant.

Pros: Tasty smørrebrød , Super friendly , Hyggelig place

Cons: Toilets weren't great, Quite pricey , Limited vegan options

Finally

It took us a while to find somewhere offering vegan smorrebrod and this place offered a heart one. The options are limited with only two but having tried both they are worth a try if you're in the area.

Great traditional danish food

There are two vegan options during lunch time at Frederik VI, both smørrebrød, and they are absolutely delicious!

Pros: The vegan options don't feel like they are lesser , Good athmosphere and great selection of beer

Cons: Somewhat expensive, No options for dinner, only for lunch, Only two options (still better than most places)

Great traditional venue but only 2 basic vegan options

Don’t go here if your primary aim is to have a great dinner. The draw of this venue is that it’s a lovely, traditional (but well maintained) classy venue with friendly staff, in a great location. It has seats outsides and on a sunny day, it’s a great place to while away the time.

There are only two vegan options and they are only available at lunch time. In the evenings, this venue has one set meal for all customers (and it isn’t vegan).

I would give this place full marks if they added just a couple more vegan options.

Had a lovely meal (peacefish) in the sun today. Very charming place.

This old Frederiksberg place is adapting to modern times and offers two vegan kind of smørrebrød. Very sympathetic. Sitting outside in the sun at this marvelous spot is a pleasure in itself.

Pros: 2 Vegan options, Real Danish food, Many good international beers

Cons: Only two Vegan options

Recommend the vegan open sandwiches

Traditional Danish food with two vegan options. Two open sandwiches - one avocado and one fried parsnip on rye bread. Very delicious and great atmosphere. I was there with my grandma who enjoyed an non-vegan dish.
They also have a lot of different beers on tap. What’s not to like?’

Pros: Atmosphere , Bring your non vegan friends , Rarely seen Danish rye sandwiches vegan

Cons: Only a few vegan options

Great traditional danish food

Very nice traditional danish place. They only have two vegan options but those options tastes amazing. They have one with avocado and salted almonds which goes really well together and another with breaded turnip and homemade (vegan) remoulade. The atmosphere is very nice and they have a great selection of beer (over 100 kinds) as well as a pool table. Be aware that they only have vegan dishes for lunch (ends at 4 pm) as their dinner is a meal of the day concept with only meat dishes. Pretty crowded on weekends so I recommend booking a table ahead. No indoor smoking.

Pros: Amazing dishes, Serves beer, Great atmosphere

Cons: Only two options

Misleading

After reading the reviews on Happy Cow we decided to try it. We arrived around 7:30. There was barely anyone in there including no staff for a couple minutes. Once seated we asked to see the menu. The waitress said there was only ONE dish being served tonight!!? Of course it was something like a hamburger. We said that we heard they had vegan entrees on the menu. She said yes. We asked if it was only at lunch. She agreed but who knows. We left. Upon examining the menu on the outside there were some vegan meals along with a variety of other dishes. So, if you consider going, call and verify that vegan options are on the menu and that more than one meal will be available at the time you plan to go.

Vegan Danish Cuisine

I'm not sure if the previous reviewer confused this place with somewhere else as this isn't intending on being a vegan place - they do however have 4 vegan options. These are also included in the menu and marked vegan (maybe it's only in Danish?)

It's a beautiful pub in a nicer area (Frederiksberg), and the perfect place to enjoy some traditional Danish cuisine with a beer.

We were starving, so between the two of us, we decided to split the four different dishes, and we both got happily full.

All four courses, a beer and a soda, cost us a little less than 400 DKK, which I would say is a pretty regular price for Copenhagen.

Classy, original and tasty

The traditional open faced sandwiches the vegan way. This is not only unique, it is extremely tasty and Well done. Cosy atmosphere and fine menu. A bit pricy, but definently worth it. I' m coming back!

Pros: place, atmosphere, taste

Cons: a bit pricy
