Savoury & sweet, perfected here - Edit
This is a must-visit venue for breakfast/brunch. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Coffee was superb and the food sublime (pastries and savoury dishes). Bruschetta and French toast was a brilliant combination, but incredibly filling!

Great bakery - Edit
Bruschetta was lovely. I would have prefered the avocado bread on toast. Wasn't a fan of the texture but lovely flavour with a slight kick to it. Loved pain au chocolat. Nice coffee.

AMAZING VEGAN BAKED GOODS - Edit
Came here on a hangover but don’t let that dissuade you from the fact the food is genuinely to die for. The pastries looked amazing, the cookie was one of the best vegan cookies I have had to date; the french toast was to die for (if you have a sweet tooth)! The staff were super friendly - could not recommend more!!!

Pretty good pastries - Edit
I liked the croissants, and the pistachio one was something I've never had before!
Read moreIt's worth noting that the kitchen closes at 15:00 (16:00 on weekends) so if you show up an hour before closing, you might not be able to get anything from the printed menu.
Pros: Only 15 minutes from the main station, Pretty good food
Cons: Pretty expensive - about 4€ per pastry

How to make the best of FREA - Edit
Exceptionally good bakery. Before ordering don't just look at the wonderful display, READ the menu. Their mix bakery plate is wonderful. So is their take on bruschetta. And if you have a sweet tooth like I do french toast is a must. Short of going to a michelin star restaurant thats the best dessert in the city that I find. I find food in Berlin generally quite boring. FREA is however great. They have a few choices of tea as well. Coffe was also good.

You find food in Berlin boring? Is there a place where food was more exciting? I am genuinely asking so i can go there next 😄 for me Berlin is the place to be for vegan food. And Warsaw. Where should I head next?

So disappointing - Edit
It is probably just me but I wasn’t impressed.
Read moreI ordered the sandwich which was ok but nothing special. The most disappointing part was the pistachio croissant- which didn’t taste like pistachio at all!
Maybe I just ordered the less popular items but after all the positive reviews I was expecting better.

Amazing food with perfect portion sizes. Coffee was also lovely. Very reasonably priced as well (~£21 for 2 meals and a coffee)

Food was excellent, coffee was ok - Edit
The Kardamom croissant was just sweet enough, and their regular croissant was slightly too greasy for my liking, yet the taste and general texture was very good!
Read moreTheir flatbread was the highlight, however. The focaccia was dreamy, and the combination of roasted mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and almond ricotta was to die for; the array of fresh veggies and herbs was delightful.
Pros: The bakery produce, The freshness, The setting
Cons: Their dirty chai , Their wasp control

Nice - Edit
I got a savory croissant and something sweet. The croissant was tasty, and the pastry was all right — nothing spectacular and a bit dry but pleasant nonetheless.
Read moreI wanted to get something savory, and only after ordering and choosing a table I saw that they have a menu with more things to choose from. So if you want more than you can see on display, check the tables for additional menu.
There were quite a few wasps flying around, so be careful not to swallow one 😅

For the effort - Edit
You get 4 stars. To find a fully plant based bakery is a dream. Everything was fresh, however it was missing a bit of flavour and punch. For example the pistachio croissant was more like green cream filled 😂

Zero waste bakery ♥️ - Edit
Frea is a zero waste bakery with all kinds of baked goods - mostly sweet.
Read moreThey also have a menu with a few breakfast options.
I had the brioche toast and some yummy croissants, strudels, buns.
All very delicious - but a little too greasy for my taste.
It’s a very popular place and therefore it can be quite crowded.
You order at the bar.
Would surely visit Frea again.
