Delicious food and friendly staff

I arrived soon after opening at 8.05 and by 8.20 the place was rammed - on a Thurs morning. So definitely book if you are looking to have a leisurely graze. The food was delicious and well presented. I had the Fika Bowl, without any add ons and this was filling, top marks for the fried fritters on top of the bowl, they were fab, I was full until well after lunchtime. To drink I had a turmeric latte (although served in a cappuccino cup so quite a skimpy portion) and it was good. The staff are friendly, attentive and checked if I had any allergies. Were friendly when I said I was vegan. The cafe is up on alleyway from the main street and is all on one ground floor level. The toilets are in a separate building with a low step. There aren't many healthy vegan options in Oakham so I recommend checking out Filka.

Pros: Healthy vegan food option, Super friendly staff, Clean and fresh

Cons: Surcharge for plant milk, Prices higher than other small towns

Lovely cafe with vegan options

Dropped in for a coffee while visiting the Christmas market.

Nice to see a good selection of non-dairy vegan milks available, along with limited edition latte flavours.

Cinnamon and cardamom latte with coconut milk worked really well.

Lovely range of cook books to read in the cafe too.

Pros: Vegan milk available, Nice coffee flavours

Great

As of July 2022 they have added 3 extra vegan or ‘vegan option available’ items to their menu, including a vegan full brunch, bao buns, and a salad bowl. Great options, delicious food.

Best vegan breakfast

Yesterday we went for breakfast and they were wonderfully accommodating. I asked for a vegan fry up. which wasn’t on the menu. They made fried tofu to go with it too. The homemade beans were so tasty and the fresh sourdough bread made it extra special. This is definitely the best breakfast I’ve had since being vegan and is the best place for Vegan breakfast in Oakham😋 Will definitely be back. (It’s only a 4 star because Happy Cow doesn’t allow 5⭐️ unless complete vegan restaurant)

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Healthy, Dog friendly

Always super tasty and fresh.

We regularly visit for takeout and eat in. The vegan Fika bowl is delicious, we particularly like the cauliflower couscous and crispy chilli tofu and vegan chocolate cake. 😋

Expensive for what it is

Don’t get me wrong, the food is delicious, but slightly overpriced. I got the vegan nourish bowl with falafel which came to just under £10 (bear in mind it wasn’t a big portion). The winter menu is certainly better and you get more filling food for the same price.

Pros: Adaptable vegan options, Serve dairy alternatives

Cons: Expensive, Serves non-veg

A fancy Swedish cafe down an alley way.

As a long term hard core vegan it’s always a dilemma as to wether or not to promote places like Fika that do vegan food whilst also dealing in the misery and death of our furry friends et al. In this case I have added Fika to Happy Cow and positively reviewed it because the town of Oakham has no pure vegetarian or vegan outlets and so we make do with what we can get. Having said all, that Fika was a delight. True it is a bit posh for my standards and it isn’t cheap but the food was excellent and the staff friendly. The staff clearly knew what was vegan and what wasn’t and made doubly sure that the milk that came with my tea soya etc. On Mondays the two other independent veg friendly cafes in Oakham are closed and they both close early so for sure try Fika out at 5hese times and so encourage them to go more vegan!
