My favourite shop in Barcelona, although not for everyone

I am a huge fermented foods fan so I may be a bit biased in my review, but honestly, I just love this place, the whole concept around it, their Gold kombucha is, exactly as they state it, pure gold, and their vegan kimchi (for those who don't know, kimchi is not always vegan...) is delicious.

Tasty vegan fermented products

Good range of vegan options with friendly and helpful staff to point out what we could have. A bit pricey but understandable given the fermentation process.. The olives and kombucha were delicious!

Amazing place!

I had a taboule salad, a coconut kefir with açai and I bought golden milk Paste for home. Yes, it’s more expensive than the usual supermarket, but the quality justifies the price in my opinion. Next time I’m Barcelona I am definitely coming there again.

Absolutely Remarkable!

I happened, by pure chance, to come across this establishment and quite frankly I was blown away! I have never seen anything like it, a true paradise of fermented products and all made, fermented and jarred by hand on site!

I’m a big fan of fermented foods and am also a victim of IBS. I have done some home fermenting however, the costs (not only financial but in time as well) really don’t come close to the convenience and quality that Ferment 9 offers. Not to mention that the girl that served me was a gem!

All in all an amazing place with a great variety of real, living fermented foods teaming with living probiotics. The staff are very knowledgeable and can answer almost any question you ask about fermented foods. Well worth a visit and a taste as everything I purchased was sensational!

Pros: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff , Excellent price for quality and service offered, Living (not pasteurized) fermented foods (probio)

Cons: Closes a bit early for me but can go on Saturdays

Exorbitantly expensive

I don't know how this place stays in business with those prices. A 475 ml jar of basic sauerkraut is 7 euros. 9 euros for kimchi. The prices just go up from there as they add flavourings. Considering how easy and cheap it is to make at home, these prices are ridiculous. Anywhoo, I wanted to try the kombucha. I got the passionfruit flavour and I wasn't particularly impressed. It didn't have much flavour at all. Some kombuchas are sour, others are sweet, this one is just meh - neither sweet nor sour and just a tiny hint of passionfruit. At 4 euros for 250 ml it's the most expensive kombucha in the neighourhood. You can get a 400 ml bottle of Captain Kombucha for less than 2.45 euros at Bio Space on Carrer Valencia, not far from here. The only good thing I'll say is that they have lots of different kinds of flavoured sauerkraut and kimchi which sound like they *could* be delicious but I can't bring myself to pay 10 euros for a tiny jar of the stuff. I guess if you're rich and lazy this is the place for you. Oh, and they also have coconut milk kefir if you're looking for a non-dairy kefir.

Pros: Lots of different kinds of sauerkraut and kimchi., Coconut milk kefir

Cons: Extremely expensive, Kombucha is just meh
