Update 4/18/24: continues to serve high quality food. Servers are very familiar with vegan options/ how to adapt dishes for vegans and continues to rate among our favorite regular places to eat out.
Read moreUpdate 4/14/23: the falafel burger! Oh my goodness. And there was a special tonight of onion and lentil fritters, as well as a vegan chocolate cake that we are told is available pretty regularly on weekends, so shucky darn I guess we're going to have to keep going back. 😉 we are enjoying working our way through the menu.
Update 2/11/23: the lentil soup is incredible. I told the waitress it was like a hug in a cup. She looked thoughtful and said "yes, it is like that!" We also got the vegan mezze platter, which I was pleased to see had pomegranate seeds this time. I love how they are always a little different.
Grabbed dinner tonight and the tabbouleh is out of this world. The masala fries are amazing and we loved the spicy falafel sandwiches. Everything was 10/10 the folks at the counter greeted us like friends. Wonderful experience, so whatever happened our first visit was clearly an anomaly. We've visited at least half a dozen times since then and the food is always, always amazing. I wish it were a little closer.

Accommodates vegan requests. We had the grilled eggplant pizza; it is on the menu with mozzarella but the used a vegan cheese, by request. Falafel balls were also pretty good.
Read moreUPDATE. We returned today (8/15/23) and had the Falafel Platter. Pretty good with more hummus than we could eat. The homemade pita, exclusive to this menu item, was super. Just wish they had more all vegan choices (less “vegan” options); but they still have really goid vegan type food.

We found this thanks to HappyCow and we could not have been more happy. There were plenty of vegan choices and the restaurant was very conscious of dietary restrictions. The food was amazing and the portions were filling. The staff could not have been more friendly. We will probably come back before leaving this area.

Falafel Shack's food, vibe and customer service is truly AMAZING!!! Because only fully-vegan and vegetarian establishments qualify for a 5-star rating with this app, I was not allowed to give a 5-star, but it IS a 5-star establishment! We ordered chana masala, eggplant pizza and tabouleh and all were SO DELICIOUS! We will certainly return next time we're in town!

Read moreWhat a wonderful place. The food is amazing. However, more importantly, the people are so kind and wonderful.
I stopped by one evening in the middle of an 800-mile drive. I wanted some nourishing food. As a vegan, finding such an option on a road trip can be a challenge. I found The Falafel Shack via the Happy Cow app.
The food was AMAZING. After I had paid for my order, when they heard that I was passing through, they made me a falafel wrap to go so I would have something nice to eat during the rest of my drive. And they didn't charge me for it. Not one cent.
I was so, so touched by this gesture. And so thankful that I decided to stop here!
Anyone and everyone should stop by The Falafel Shack when they are in Chambersburg!

Feelin' awfel? So much good stuff here at very low prices. I ordered three items in-house and took two to go. The Maneesh was so good, I added yet one more order to go. Six food items and I paid $30 + tax. Yeah, that's right and that's including a $3 local tap root beer.

I had falafel and fries. The atmosphere is very cozy, historic, and inclusive. Their shirts say "Spread hummus, not hate." Love! Food delicious, service friendly, atmosphere welcoming. I would eat here every day if it were close to my home.

The food here is absolutely amazing, the staff is knowledgeable and kind and there are so many vegan options...we could eat here everyday! It is located just a few miles off of the Interstate 81. Great food, beautiful location, friendly people.
