i have ate here five times, and everytime i have ordered something different and everytime was better than the last ... awesome made from scratch vegan food .. i have stayed in banos a few days longer than expected just to eat here .. great hiking and super tasty vegan food .. life is good .. dont miss this place if you are in banos .. have not tried the pizza but all the vegan items are great .. opens at 12 noon ,,, this place is all vegetarian, the man says that all the meat items are vegetarian meat .. so i am not sure why it says it is meat with veggie options, he has been vegetarian for 25 years

Pros: great vegan food, super nice guy , made to order items

El Paisano, Banos

More than half the items on the menu are vegetarian. The 1st vegetarian menu, (ie not the vego pizza and not the vego omelete menus), everything is vegan. There's a lot of pizzas in there as well as a lot of soups and omelettes. The guy who works there is nice, un assuming and quite softly spoken.

Banos is a small town and I don't know if its because the competition for the vego market is fierce, but he said to me that as of 29 Feb 2013 they will stop doing food and be an art gallery only. The location is 5 mins further out of the middle of town than the likes of casa Hood. Its only a few mins walk round the corner from one of the thermal baths (the thermal bath that is open in the day time and the evening as opposed to the one that is open day time only.

Its a real shame its closing as I had dinner tonight it was quite delicious. I had the vego plato which was this thing I don't know what it was, it was like a couple of slices of a massive cucumber / courgette type thing but tasted different to both of those. It was cooked in sesame seeds and was great. It was served with casseroled green lentil, diced fried potato, cauliflower and a pleasantly dressed salad. For a starter i'd had the vegetable soup which was like a meal in itself. Add in a freshly squeezed pineapple juice and it came to 8 bucks.

Very enjoyable and if it was 100% I'd defo rate it at least a 4, maybe higher as this was top food I've just had. And by a lovely bloke.

Pros: Vegan friendly, tasty, inexpensive

Cons: Not 100% vego

Great soups! Everything fresh and worth trying!

The chef at this place made everything from scratch while we were there and it was delicious. We had two soups from the list of 10 and they were amazing. There are many varieties of veggetarian plates/combos and they all sounded good too. Oh, and a good selection of teas too!

Pros: fresh food, wide selection

Cons: more expensive than eating in the market
