Horrible tasting food - Edit
The only vegan protein they have is soyrizo and it’s dry and tasteless. As a Mexican I can say that nothing tastes like it should, the salsa, tortillas and even my friends non vegan food tasted bad. Only people that don’t know real Mexican food will think this is OK. Just becuase they sell burritos and tacos doesn’t make it Mexican

So yum - Edit
So so good. Had vegatable burrito and then went again for the soyrizo version. Want to go again and try all the vegan options. They have vegan cheese too. They don't have breakfast burritos BTW. That was why we went the second time in the morning..

A full vegan options menu Mexican food - Edit
Been a regular at El Chupacabra for years now, they been around and survived the pandemics too, few years ago added a full on vegan menu.
Read moreAll of it that I tried so far was delicious. This is a very informal, bar, holl in the wall kind of place which is the style I love, but maybe not everyone appreciates. However the pricing is fair according the quality.
Pros: has a full vegan options menu, affordable , laid back atmosphere
Cons: gets packed in the evenings

Weird pricing for vegan menu items - Edit
Why is the vegan chili more expensive than the non-vegan one when the vegan chili comes without meat? I also tastes quite bland compared to other vegan chilis I’ve had in Texas. The California-sized vegan burritos are almost double in price from the regular-sized ones; whereas the non-vegan California-sized burritos are only about 50% more than the regular-sized ones.
Read moreService is also essentially nonexistent: the waitstaff need to be prodded into giving you menus, taking orders, and closing out the bill. Not sure why they feel justified in charging 10% service fees for this kind of attitude. The food is okay but not great. Other than the chili, I have tried the nachos, grilled vegetable quesadilla, grilled vegetable street taco, and potato wedges. Although the nachos tasted pretty good, I thought they could have used vegan cheese on them. The quesadilla was passable but not something I’d order again. They screwed up my taco order and initially gave me a crispy fish taco. Once they fixed their mistake, I got to try the veggie street taco was only made with grilled zucchini. The service was so slow that we tried to get the check before they brought out the potato wedges, but they managed to squeak them in before our check arrived. They were very hot and tasted decent.
The caipirinha was much too alcohol-forward and didn’t taste like limes. The sangria came in a tall glass and didn’t have much fruit flavor. The waitstaff also took it away before I got to finish it.
Pros: separate vegan menu
Cons: service needs improvement, weird pricing for vegan items, vegan recipes need improvement

Hidden but busy - Edit
Brought my non-veg friend here after finding it on Happy Cow. We got there at the right time because after we were seated they got real busy with both locals and tourists, so that was a good sign.
Read moreThey have a whole separate vegan menu now including vegan cheese!
I got the soyrizo and papas burrito. My friend’s food came out and there was a long wait for mine. When we asked, they said it was because they were cooking the vegan food on a separate/cleaned area of the kitchen which was great to hear although might’ve been good to mention that there would be a wait when we ordered.
When my food came they did apologise. The burrito was great! Not greasy at all. Just the right amount of spice for me.
Also, the cocktail I got was very nice but pretty strong - maybe that’s a good thing though?

Pleasant - Edit
Busy little spot with a decent sized menu. Soyrizo was a little too salty and in general my food was quite greasy. Potato wedges were great id strongly recommend. Some nice cocktails.

soyrizo - Edit
Vegans should definitely order something with soyrizo . Quick service, cold beer, nice and funny decorations. Prices from 150 to 350 for a main.
