Well-stocked store for fresh and packaged food - Edit
Wide range of products and lots of good-looking, organic, fresh produce. Chilled and frozen foods, snacks, bulk section, teas and coffees, personal care products, vitamins, grains, beans. Several local Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands products. Plenty for vegans. Pleasant service. Covid protocols in place.
Seniors discount one self-chosen day per month.
Stopped in here while visiting my Omni parents and stocked up on everything I need. Many different vegan mock-meats and cheeses, plant milks, nutritional yeast and snack. One stop shop.
Well stocked for small town health food store - Edit
(Replacing former 5 star review)
Sadly this place has really gone downhill under new ownership. They did a purge on what sells regularly and got rid of many interesting product lines. Still has a few things not available in thriftys but now visit once every few weeks instead of a couple of times a week. Too bad.
Edible Island is a long established grocery store and has a pretty good productline for it's size. Staff are very friendly and helpful if you have questions.Good organic produce selection and generally very fresh. Bread inventory goes quickly so shortage of specific products can be a problem.
I shop there regularly.
After finding about it here on Happy Cow, I made Edible Island one of my first stops when I visited Courtenay. Tucked one street back the main downtown business strip, this store is surprisingly large for a small town, independent natural foods place. It offers a wide selection of organic / natural food staples as well as health and hygiene products. The staff and overall vibe is friendly and down to earth. I'll definitely stop in again whenever I visit the area!

Pros: wide selection, local products, seniors discount one day per month
Cons: narrow aisles (they could use a bigger store!)
