Russell’s may be the best vegan spot on the island! Had a breakfast burrito and the flakiest breakfast sando. Wow. Definitely make a stop if you can!

This place is a MUST!! Everything about Russell’s is great including the food, the people, and the vibe. We went multiple times and everything tasted excellent. Highly recommend the cheesiest flakiest sandwich or Tex Mex burrito for breakfast. The jalapeño poppers are also fantastic! We would of eaten here every day of the trip but they are closed Sunday and Monday.

Best kale salad I’ve ever eaten - Edit
Our family has been eating at the vegan establishments on this property for years… when it was Cafe Coco, Hippie Cafe, Eat Healthy Cafe, etc. This was our first time back on the island since it became Russell’s by Eat Healthy Kauai, and we were not disappointed.
Read moreThe backyard has been transformed into an even more magical setting than before. The food was incredible. My kale salad with papaya, mac nut, and cornmeal crusted tofu was the best kale salad I’ve ever eaten. I also loved my hibiscus iced tea. My family’s dishes were incredible as well. Service was a bit slow but our server apologized twice, thanking us for our patience. This wasn’t a big deal for us since island time is sort of what you come to enjoy and relish when you visit Kauai… and the food was worth the wait.
We’re looking forward to heading back there next week for breakfast. Menu looks amazing!

Chickens are everywhere and will attack you.. i know we’re vegans but a little water doesn’t hurt. I swear the chickens know the menu. Anyways the purple potato samosas are delicious. The kimchi sandwich is awesome and the tuna breads omg.

So happy to have Russell’s open here in Wailua! Great plant based comfort foods, Jalapeño popper and Samosas are some of our favorites as well as their great selection of burgers. It’s also so appreciated that they give a little side salad (which is great) with all the burgers and sandwiches.

Read moreRussel’s spans casual to casual upscale. I ate lunch and dinner here. Lunch - a BLT and hummus wrap - was great. While the wrap was very good, the BLT was flavorful to an extreme with Smokey tempeh balanced perfectly with the mayo.
For dinner, there are quite a few appetizer options and not so many entrees. The garlic focaccia with ranch dip and jalapeño cheese curls were out of this world. The tu-no focaccia open face sandwiches were also amazing. For my main meal I ordered the Charmla tofu plater with blue potato samosas. The samosas were a bit over cooked but the tofu slices were flavorful especially with the hummus topping.
For dessert, the mango-coconut and pineapple-coconut turnovers were spectacular, the latter being significantly sweeter due to the pineapple. The raw truffles were also extremely tasty and flavorful.

Our Favorite restaurant on the island - Edit
We came here last summer (2022) and are back (spring 2023). Both trips, this restaurant is hands down the best!!! Kale salad with cornmeal crusted tofu is out of this world. We also had bruschetta, Mexican breakfast burrito, banana pancakes, teriyaki, pineapple, burger. Everything was fresh & delicious. Service was friendly, good vibes.

Everything was fantastic, we had the garlic bread, jalapeno bites, blt, and tuno melt, all of which were fantastic. I geuss my one complaint would be the hours are pretty limited, but everything else was great.

Russel’s is a small vegan restaurant just off Kuhio Hwy. near Wailua beach. Tons of character in the building, staff, and food. The kitchen is fast and consistent and the service is quick and friendly. Outdoor seating is really awesome with lush plantlife etc. fine at a few tables when it is raining. Breakfast - Build your own scramble has a lot of good options, tempeh bacon, veggies kale etc. and you can get a side of rice. Perfect portion size, light and flavorful. The Flaky Cheesy sandwich is just indulgent enough without feeling like you want to die after eating it. Light and crisp puff pastry bread, scramble and cheese. Bagels are solid, Tempeh BLT is delicious and the Bacon Cheddar Burger is one of the best Beyond burgers I’ve had in a while.. helped by Russels tempeh bacon. Iced tea options are also quality.

Open for breakfast until 11 and lunch until 2pm. 100% vegan menu. We tried the Cheesiest Flakiest Sandwich and a tofu scramble. Great Japanese ice coffee and Thai ice tea with coconut milk. Lovely outdoor covered patio.

What a fantastic gem of a place, and team. From a super engaged owner full with a kind heart, to the food, setting, and service - what's not to love? Hopefully they'll be there another five years, and even maybe expand to Poipu one day! We'd have eaten here every breakfast and lunch if staying in Kapa'a. Can't wait to come back :)

We followed recommendations from happy cow and a blog to the delightful pink oasis called Russell’s - and it was so amazing that we visited again the next day. Every single thing we tried was delicious, the people were welcoming, and the vibe was super chill. The outdoor deck is gorgeous, the music had all the feels, and the roosters rounded out the authentic Hawaiian experience. Must try: dirty monkey, Tahitian lemonade, banana pancakes, the flakiest cheesiest sandwich, the blt, cheesy garlic bread, and the list goes on. #Veganuary

I ordered "the cheesiest flakiest breakfast sandwich" and it was as titled, so delicious and buttery. I also had the monkey milk smoothie with protein powder, which is sweet that they have that as an add-in. So creamy and peanut buttery. My bff got the daily pancakes and they were super yummy as well. Russell's is a must if you're visiting, don't miss out!!!

I recently vacationed in Kauai, and this is one of my first stops. I placed my order in the car for take out and it was ready when I got there. The Beyond Meat pineapple teriyaki burger with a salad was SO good.
Read moreIt is situated in what used to be a house and it is set back from the road. The indoor section was funky and quirky and it continued in the backyard. So peaceful and calm and beautiful. It reminded me of an earlier time in history - kind of like hippie-ish.
Unfortunately we had no other time to go and eat there as we filled the rest of the time with mountain river tubing, zip lining, snorkeling, boogie boarding, hiking, etc.
I work for HappyCow but forgot to pack my 'excellent reviews' window stickers in my suitcase. :(

If you do not go here when traveling to Kauai then you just might not even go to Kauai at all. This place makes me think I could totally do food service if I wanted to. The atmosphere is so friendly, chill, and perfect for eating/digesting food. Speaking food, SO BOMB. Y’all the pancakes are so good I almost threw them up just to eat them again because I wanted to taste the flavor TWICE (probably could have bought more pancakes lmao). Anyway everything is delicious and good just come here.
