My favourite whole foods store (local, wide rang of stock and friendly) - Edit
My favourite food shop in London. Staff are incredibly friendly. I love supporting local businesses and this is a prime example. If you are like me and love eating whole foods, I’d recommend a daily shop here. I particularly love their jumbo oats.

Earth Natural Foods - Edit
UPDATE - Upgraded to a 5 since this place reliably carries "Clean Bean" tofu among other vegan staples. I'm now a regular!

This is a legit and good sized natural food store loaded with many natural food and vegan products. It had a nice vibe overall. You can also buy some staples in bulk. I'd shop here more frequently if I lived closer.

Terrible customer service - Edit
Came in today and bought a freshly-made orange and polenta cake for £2.70. I did not like it, and I asked a dour-looking, rude, middle-aged man if I could exchange it for something else after taking a bite. He said no, you took a bite. I rarely ask to exchange a food item, but this cake really, really wasn’t for me - very sour - and the man who interacted with me was extremely discourteous and had no people-skills in my opinion. Never going back in again.

Lovely little store - Edit
This little supermarket has all sorts of grocery items, fresh fruit and vegetables, lots of vegan and ethical products. Recycling point for Brita filters. There’s a salad bar and daily hot food choices for your lunch. Well worth supporting.

Cons: A bit more expensive than the big players

Wide selection - Edit
This shop always has such a wide selection of products. It’s one of the few places I can consistently find tinned black beans for example. (Seems like a basic thing, but so many shops don’t sell it!)

Amazing shop selling everything a vegan could need - Edit
This shop has aisles and aisles of whole foods including items catering for vegan, gluten-free, raw, macrobiotic etc diets. Sells everything a vegan could want: plant milks, cheeses, chocolate, sweets and vegan alternatives to most foods. Also great for zero-waste shopping: beans, grains, herbs and spices, fruit and veg, nuts, seeds, tea, coffee, pasta, oats, toiletries, olive oil are all sold loose and you can bring your own containers to fill. Takeaway food includes a hot vegan option every day, and loads of salads. Plus if there’s something you want that they don’t sell they’ll happily order some in for you if they can. Staff are super friendly and helpful too

Specialist products and nice lunch buffet - Edit
This place has loads of specialist deli items liked tinned jackfruit and vegan gf biscuits, as well as fresh pastries and cakes, a chilled food section, and rotating sale items. Furthermore the buffet and salad bar is very vegan and gf friendly and looks great. I tried the mushroom dumplings which were rich and tasty. The staff are also super nice.

A breath of Fresh Air - Edit
I love this place, the staff are always friendly & helpful. I recently asked for some Black Salt to make vegan scrambled eggs & was told they don't have it, only to have the same man approach me with the item I needed!! Amazing customer service.

Love this shop - Edit
This shop is awesome! Not only are they the only people in England who sell my favourite vegan chocolate ever (Rapunzel, particularly the Dark Nirwana praline one), they also sell Manna gluten-free vegan chocolate iced muffins and they do awesome fresh salads from their counter too. Their medium (£4.99) salad is a really filling lunch - you get to choose about 5 things, plus olives and hummous - watch out for the beansprout tofu one, it's the best.

love this shop! - Edit
I come all the way from Edmonton to this shop! I like that it sells a lot of the same stuff you get in Planet Organic but for cheaper. I love that you can serve yourself weighed portions of nuts, fruit and veg, herbs and spices rather than just buying a huge portion of something which is great for people just shopping for themselves. Great range of vegan chocolate & ice-cream & wine. Makes organic shopping more affordable. Nice range of natural toiletries. excellent!
Read morePros: great range of vegan food, can serve yourself the portion you want, affordable
Cons: receipts are not itemised!

A decent place to get those "unusual" products. - Edit
There's quite a lot in this pleasantly designed and welcoming one storey store. On the occasions I've visited it seems quite popular with an array of people. The range is quite large, in particular extensive (and fragrant) loose teas and a surprising variety of oils (inc. Omega 3s); I was slightly taken aback by its considerable range of products for the baby. Of note also are the shelves set aside for Japanese vegetarian products, eg. kelp, and mochi. These aren't as wide-ranging as the Japan Centre in Piccadilly, but most places aren't either. There are also several varieties of block olive soaps - which unlike some other independent stores - compare favourably/exactly with larger chains such as Planet Organic. I'm thinking here specifically of the large olive soap block which retails for £2.95 at present. The store is very easy to get to, being on several bus routes; if you're travelling from further north on the 134 you'll have to alight at the Kentish Town Post office stop.
