Wish I could go back - Edit
I was visiting Vancouver and had Do Chay on my list. Got a beer, some salad rolls, and the black garlic eggplant dish as a treat after a long day. Would love to go back and try some of the other dishes, particularly the shareables! It was definitely a lot of food for one person.

Whenever I go to a different city I always reach out to the ambassadors and ask for recommendations. This was a recommended place. I love Vietnamese food so was happy to see this place recommended because it did not catch my eye on prior research.
Read moreI pulled up and there was a 40 minute wait. I thought about going elsewhere but decided to wait at the bar next door. I’m happy I did.
I was seated and ordered the coconut rice cakes, Black truffle dumplings, and the black garlic eggplant. Everything was absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the dumplings.

Fresh & Tasty - Edit
Everything tasted so fresh. The only challenge was narrowing down what we wanted from the amazing menu! Definitely going back to try more items.

A few vegan options - Edit
Solid Vegan Pho and spring rolls when you're in the west end/Yaletown. Just note that some of the other items are vegetarian-only.

This cuisine is so creative - order the Coco Cakes! Every dish was so different and a mix of textures, flavors and presentation. Just beautiful. I have a new favorite!

I would have given 5 stars but they are vegetarian and my rule is nothing more than 4 stars for vegetarian:)

Great Veg Vietnamese Inspired - Edit
Really good food, the spring rolls are to die for. Lettuce wraps are so good too, also had the curry but didnt have a strong flavour profile. The prawns have no taste.
Read moreOverall I would definitely try again next time I’m in town! Excellent choices, just wouldn’t necessarily get the curry again (still good though).

The food here is amazing and we keep coming back on our own and bring all out of town visitors here. Interesting flavours, large servings and a good range of dishes. Also great cocktails.

The space is really cozy and they have a large quiet patio facing cobbled sidewalks and lovely heritage brick buildings.

Food was a miss for me - Edit
Read the review so I was keen to discover. Staff is quite unfriendly which didn't set the mood in the first place. The menu is fully vegan. Got the desert island noodle which was true to its name, mostly noodle in coconut sauce and one lonely small meatless ball. The coconut was the only flavor I got. I found it very pricey for what you get and the poor service.

Amazing vegan Vietnamese food - Edit
We come to this location often on weekends. In the warmer months, they have outdoor seating; otherwise, there is seating indoors. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the menu is concise (the menu at their Kingsway location is larger), but delicious. We always order too much and share!

Best rainy day spot! - Edit
This location used to be House Special, which had the best vegan pho ever! They were part of the do chay family, however unlike do chay, house special was not vegan (though they had lots of awesome options). Since they’ve made the switch to do chay it’s a totally veg menu, with lots of new items and luckily they still have the same delicious pho! I recommend the oyster mushroom ‘wings’ and the vegan pho, especially great on a rainy day (but delicious any time)!

Tastiest Vietnamese Food - Edit
I read the reviews on Happy Cow and decided to try Do Chay.
Read moreI can now completely agree with the reviews. I had the lemongrass tofu and it was the most flavorful I have ever experienced. They actually added some spice which made it even better (not too much though).
Ample portion for the bowl too - great value!
We also ordered the pot stickers which were great, and hubby had a curry bowl which he really enjoyed too!
Even the charcoal lemonade was good!
I highly recommend you give them a try.
Pros: Very tasty, All but one item is vegan (lunch menu), Great value, portions and service

Two Nights In a Row - Edit
So my wife and I hadn’t realized that Do Chay Yaletown was opening night last night. We showed up thinking it was already established and were lucky enough to get a table. The service was great, and the food was better. So much so that we decided to forgo another regular stop when we are Vancouver and went there again tonight. We had the green onion pancake both nights, it was that good. But I’m a sucker for those flavours. It actually reminded me a lot of a non-vegan version from years past, but stands up on its own (my wife actually wanted it again tonight, and she hasn’t had the non-vegan one).
