Great vegan menu

The vegan sausage naan is so tasty. Also had the oat milk chai, it doesn’t say on the menu that’s it’s bottomless but it is and I got two refills. Staff were great. Lunch is very tasty, loved the rice pudding dessert

Exceptional food and service

All meal times have plenty of very good options that are clearly marked as vegan. There's several British indian fusion meals that are so good like their vegan breakfast naan. It's a fancy and expensive place, but that's the experience they create

Excellent food and service

Incredibly knowledgeable serving staff and the food was delicious. Separate vegan menu also. Particularly enjoyed the deep fried okra and the bombay potatoes. Dessert was a rice pudding brulee which was both fun and delicious

A classic!

Highly recommend the Dishoom house chaat, and the vegan chole puri. So good! The other things we took were also nice.

A little bit pricey but you pay for the place as well I guess!

Lust for Life

Perfect spot to meet a couple of old uni mates where everyone’s happy with the menu. Definitely worth booking in advance judging by the queues outside for the on-spec walk ins. It was a relief to get straight in and shown to our seats in the basement. From the vegan menu I had the signature gunpowder potatoes with a main of Chole Puri. I can’t be chewed on explaining the intricacies of the food, just look at the pics or Google the menu. The main thing was I absolutely loved it. Nearly two hours later we resurfaced, extremely satisfied and unequivocally delighted.

Pros: vegan menu , good staff banter

Cons: Advised to book

Lovely Indian food with separate vegan menu

We felt very well catered for as vegans here - the waiter asked us for dietary requirements and gave us a vegan menu. This didn't have all that many options on it, and it seemed there were options on the main menu that were vegan and not listed (our non-vegan friend ordered a daal from the normal menu that the waiter said was vegan when it arrived). But the food was lovely! (Just ask to see both menus!)

Wonderful experience

Dishoom is a large restaurant that has two floors, but it was still packed when we visited. We were lucky to get a table, although we observed that fluctuation was high and waiting times for tables were short.
The staff are genuinely friendly and explain everything to you, they are attentive, but not over the top.
We shared three dishes between us: The Dishoom House Chaat, the Chilli Broccoli Salad and the Kala Chana Salad. The salads were both great, and the chaat was out of this world!!! It was truly one of the best things we have ever tasted. There is a separate vegan menu that is varied and something else compared to your average Indian restaurant.
We also had some non-alcoholic drinks that we never had before, which were both great: Thums Up coke and Free Damm beer.

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and although it was packed and therefore loud, the atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed our visit very much.

Having lunch at Dishoom was a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to go back on our next trip to Edinburgh!

Very nice food, be prepared to wait for a table

I've been here a few times at various times. Although booking is possible, Dishoom is primarily a walk in restaurant with limited reservation possibilities, so at busy times there can be a long wait to get a table. It's very good though with an extensive separate vegan menu. I've had loads of items on the menu and all are pretty good. The offer an oat milk chai too. Late evening is my favourite time to go. Place has got a nice feel to it. It can be a bit expensive.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Tasty

Cons: Can be a long wait

Very yummy, good atmosphere, friendly people

I went one day for dinner and the other day for breakfast. Dinner I had vada pau, a sweet potatoes in a soft roll with crunchy toppings. I thought it came with some fancy green beans but no it was a whole chilli so that was spicy. I also had roasted sweetcorn which was simple but tasty because it's sweetcorn. And roti which was simple and good but I'm always disappointed they don't offer vegan garlic roti/naan... and dessert was a rice pudding with fired top with jam.

Breakfast was a vegan sausage naan roll which was hearty and filling and tasty. Lovely seasoning and sauces

Pros: Tastes good, Super friendly people, Free mint tea and umbrellas when queueing

Reliably good

Getting a table can be a pain, and sometimes you're moved about from bar to table with long waits, but if you have the time, or go earlier in the day, it's worth it! Great vegan menu with lots of options. Breakfast is also good with free refills on porridge and oat milk chai.

Reservation helpful, food's amazingly good

The place seemed to be very popular and maybe a little too high class for us 😄 better make a reservation if you don't want to wait for at least half an hour to get a table. We were lucky and got a table outside.
The food really is amazing, we've never had better indian food before. The portions are not that big though, that probably comes with the high quality.
The staff is very nice and forthcoming. But there might be people out there who find them a little annoying 😉

Delicious!!!

They have a full vegan menu. And though I'm not well versed in Indian food, the dishes we had were different than what I'm used to. Everything was great. We had khichia and chundo, bhel, vada pau, the house chaat, and gunpowder potatoes. Highly recommend!

Delicious

After scanning happy cow for the nearest vegan restaurant for our weekend stay in Edinburgh we discovered dishoom. Very friendly welcome, speedy seating and really knowledgeable staff who where all over explaining about vegan options. We had several vegan treats similar to tapas and it was all delicious. We couldn’t fault the food, the venue was very groovy and the background music was great. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our night out and would definitely go back the next time we visit.

Pros: Delicious vegan food, Variety and separate vegan menu, Warm and friendly staff

Cons: None, absolutely great venue

Never disappointed

I love the feel of this restaurant, it's always really busy but so worth the wait. It's like a little bit of luxury for a fraction of the price tag. Staff always so friendly and helpful with vegans and people with food intolerance etc. The bowl of greens is the best thing ever! You need to try here 😍

Taste of India

Dishoom do a lovely vegan breakfast and a great lunch/dinner menu. The food is fantastic and the chai is a must try and is unlimited early in the day. Caters for all diets and it’s absolutely great. I will be returning. Most dishes are tapas style. The decor is also lovely and dining here inspires me to catch the next flight to Mumbai.

Pros: Lovely decor , Unlimited oat milk chai (brunch)

Cons: Very busy, need to book

Expensive for what it is

My breakfast was a naan bread with a single sausage and margarine. Not what I'd call great. Service was friendly and quick.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Friendly service

Cons: Expensive for what it is, Food was average at best
