Amazing gourmet vegan - Edit
This place is very lovely and cozy. The staff is also nice. I had a lunch there but the place was fully booked in the evening and all weekend so raccomended to book. I had a potato seitan with a lovely sauce. I also ad a nice dessert with Mandel chocolate. Really good. I paid 19.5o. They also take part of the income to donate to an association that make meals for poor people. So impressed

Best vegan food in Bordeaux - Edit
We were looking forward to this place, as it was recommended for having French food in a vegan version, and that’s exactly what we got! The food tastes like heaven as every ingredient is perfect on its own and it only becomes better when you combine everything!

Little bistrot with tapas - Edit
They serve a plate with 5 different tapas, or sweets or cheese. The portions are small. I would ve expected more variety - 4 out if 5 dishes were fried.

Good fine dining in Bordeaux - Edit
We tried everthing on the meny. Cheeseplate was good but a bit small. The starters were great! Main course a bit flat and flavourless, dessert was good, not great, we would recommend the cafe gourmand!

Food was good - Edit
We booked ahead (recommended as a few people were turned away). There were 2 entrées and 2 mains to choose from as a dessert, cafe gourmand and a cheeseboard. I had the White gazpacho which had grapes and almonds and garlic. It was very nice. The garlic was strong. For my main I had soba noodles with tofu. I particularly liked the fried tofu served with it and the cherry tomatoes gave the whole dish a nice flavour. My partner had the tartare for an entree and Croque sandwich (had pumpkin and house made cheese) Then I chose the cafe gourmand for dessert which was a coffee with 3 little desserts. I really liked them all. The canelé was great, the custard on another little dessert was delicious and the chocolate caramel cake was incredible. Really tasted strongly of chocolate.

Sample plates! - Edit
Great vibes, great food, friendly waitress. They have tapas sample platters and a dessert sampler too that includes a vegan version of the local Canelé cake. Everything was great! Probably make reservations ahead of time. I went by myself on a Saturday night and I was the only walk-in accepted. There were maybe 10 other people in larger groups that were turned away.

One of the only vegan restaurants in the whole city - Edit
The Dis Leur is one of the very few fully vegan restaurants in Bordeaux. During the summer they offer tapas as platters to share or as individual small dishes. They have different weekly or monthly menus the rest of the year. I highly recommend dining there for the very friendly service, the tasty food and the relaxed ambiance. I especially enjoyed the brochettes and the rillettes de lentilles et noix. Special mention for the vegan canelés which were to die for (fully equivalent, if not better than the traditional ones).

Reservation is a must! - Edit
Only had two nights in Bordeaux, and seeing that this place was fully booked for the first night, we made a reservation for our second night. Whilst we were dining, many others were turned away as there were no more tables - so reserve to avoid disappointment!
Read moreI had an assiette salée (30€ and enough for 2 people) followed by a vegetal cheese board (11.50€ and also serves 2)! The tapas all came in pairs so easy to share. All individual parts of the tapas were tasty:
Tempura was crispy with a yoghurt curried sauce
Chips - soft and crispy with ketchup and a vegan Mayo
Lentil and nut dip with crackers - creamy and tasty
Ravioli filled with caponata - and absolute must and worth getting the whole plate for - crispy outside and succulent filling
Cucumber bites with tofu cream and fermented carrot - refreshing
Skewers - flavour explosion in each mouthful
The two cheeses on the cheese board were very flavourful - one was smokey with a noticeable but welcome cashew flavour, the other was perhaps like non vegan cheese but tangy and melted in your mouth.
Server was friendly and explained the menu to customers as required. The restaurant also ethically sources its ingredients - being eco responsible and local - very impressive.

Vegan tapas - Edit
My partner and i went on a Tuesday night when it was very hot indeed, Although they said it was normally busy on a Tuesday, we were alone all the time we were there. Not unreasonably, they blamed it on the heat wave.
Read moreDis Leur bills itself as a bistro but it is really more of a tapas bar, with lots of little dishes. We had the Assiette Salée, which was a selection of all the options for 2 to share, although, as we were hungry, we topped it up with a few individual dishes. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious, with some brochettes, samosas, lentil rillettes etc.
For dessert, we again shared a selection all of which were excellent, including some vegan cannelés which we know from experience are very difficult to cook.
The place itself is on a street in the old part of Bordeaux, not far from the cathedral. It is small - maybe a capacity of 20 inside, and I enjoyed the relatively quiet background music of rock bands from my youth. I am late sixties.
We are only in Bordeaux for a few days and, while I strongly recommend Dis Leur for anyone visiting Bordeaux, we are unlikely to return because it would mean having the same things again.
Pros: excellent food, good ambience, friendly staff
Cons: Not really much choice of food (though plenty with
