Neapolitan Pizza straight from the Wood Oven

Di Matteo, an Italian pizzeria in the Hyehwa neighbourhood that is owned by comedian/actor Lee Won-Seung, has been an institution since it first opened in 1998.
The restaurant has a separate vegan menu (select from the digital screen at your table, Korean English both available). There are 5 vegan options: 2 pizzas (the traditional Marinara and another one with more toppings), 2 pasta dishes (Aglio Olio, Pomodoro Tomato) and a salad. Pizzas, which are Neapolitan style, are cooked in a wood oven. The place is a little pricey (Pizza Marinara, which is topped with tomato sauce, basil and garlic, is cheap, but the other vegan pizza with more toppings is more than double the price). Still, the place is very popular and is clearly doing things right – it has been around for a quarter century after all. The friendly owner is quick to greet you when you walk in, waiters serve you right away. Pizzeria Marione is still our No. 1 in Seoul, but it’s great to have this solid option closer to where we live.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan menu (English+Korean), Quick service, Well established restaurant

Cons: A bit pricey
