Nice lunch - Edit
I would think about moving to Preston just to be able to have breakfast here. I hadn’t been been since the cafe became vegan and I was pleased to see it had become even better when I was in for lunch recently. I came for the croissants, so we ordered the loaded croissant (with sausage, sauerkraut and mayo, $12) and the bacon, tomato and mozzarella one ($9.50). The croissants were fresh and buttery and the fillings delicious. The sausage made the loaded croissant substantial, while the bacon one was lighter and more breakfast (by my tastes). We also shared a tasty mushroom and herb galette, which was crisp and - a pleasant surprise - not post-microwave. Very nice place.

So glad we have discovered Desta - it’s only a few minutes drive for us and we feel really lucky to have such a fun and friendly vegan cafe on our doorstep. Food is tasty and different from other places in our locale - highly recommend it for a snack, light lunch or tasty meal.

Delicious - Edit
This is a welcoming cafe, with staff happy to explain all the items on display. At this stage, this display is all the options available. I understand they are looking to expand the menu.
Read moreThere are sandwiches, soup, pot pies, croissants, as well as sweets such as a chocolate tart which I sampled.
The croissant was fresh. The coffee was good. The tart was rich.
Comfortable seating, and great for people watching (on High street).

Well priced and delicious - Edit
We had the lasagne, the breakfast burrito and toasted savoury croissant. All were delicious, I particularly enjoyed the lasagne, the serves are not large, but we rounded it off by sharing a chocolate tart and caramel slice kind of thing, which Was the star of the meal. $5 for the sweets is very good value.

Tasty lunch - Edit
We arrived latish on a Sunday for lunch. They were sold out of most of the items but I got a savoury croissant. It was very nice. I also had a caramel milkshake which I liked. Nice service. I’m looking forward to their full menu which they are working on.

Read moreEnjoyed a very good quiche and coffee walnut muffin. The sweetcorn and chive chowder (soup of the day) was a little too over seasoned but otherwise good and in a big bowl with a couple of slices of bread for $8. Good to see they were doing a roaring trade.

Good prices and selection of baked goods. Will make a, point of returning earlier in the day when they are fully stocked. Soup of the day was promoted as $8 per bowl which I would definitely try next time. The blueberry muffin we shared was excellent; full of fruit, moist, and not straight out of a fridge (a common failing at a number of cafes). The toasted croissant was okay but I really should have ordered the pumpkin/feta instead of the facon (not a fan of it).
Very happy to hear they are transitioning to vegan in the near future. 😊👏
