Carries organic fresh produce, organic groceries, home cleaning supplies. Is non-GMO supportive. Has a soup/salad bar with plenty of vegan options, fresh juice/smoothie bar. Open Mon-Fri 9:00am-8:00pm, Sat 9:00am-7:00pm, Sun 10:00am-6:00pm.
Every time I go in there for one thing, I come out with a shopping cart, and I hate myself for it. They always have an array of vegan brands that regular grocery stores do not, as well as fresh pre-made vegan meals in the refrigerated section. It’s like being a kid in a candy store, except you have to worry about the holes in your pockets.
It makes no sense why a grocery store would make it mandatory for customers to wear latex gloves (when some people are allergic), yet they do not have wipes to clean the carts, nor do the workers practice social distancing towards the customers.
Anyway, I tried to explain to the cashier, Rachel, that I was allergic. She came around from the register, got very close to me (didn't Social Distance herself) and scolded me about "store policy."
I did not deserve to be treated like that! I know for a fact she's a smoker, therefore she could have COVID19 for all I know. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DISTANCE! I told her I was going to report her to Dean (the owner). She got hysterical and called the manager Heather, who also scolded me for not wearing the latex gloves (which I am allergic to!)
Both women were out of line. I left the store (without any groceries after driving 25 minutes to get there!)
It's a scary place to shop and I don't feel comfortable shopping there.
I called the store manager and wrote to Dean himself. Have not heard from either of them. There are many other places to get organic food in NJ, there is no need to shop here ever again. The people who work there do not have the customer's best interest. Terrible store.
At first glance you might think this market is small, however it has (pretty much) everything I need and then some. All organic and their pre-made food is really good. They make great juices and I don’t mind driving a little extra to get good quality especially to support a smaller market. Prices are fair and they offer coupons quite often. Two thumbs up!!
I absolutely love this place, it's probably the best health food store in my area. They have such great vegan options and the food they make is delicious!
This is one of my favorite places. I love the juices and smoothies! They're so Vegan friendly and have a lot of Vegan goodies. The soups are always delicious too! I love grocery shopping here as well, they have mostly organic produce and they're supporters of the Non-GMO project, which is awesome!
This is the third successful location for this store and cafe, with other locations in Shrewsbury and Ocean. The owner and staff are all kind and knowledgeable. As always, on this visit we started with a large juice or smoothie - there are many choices on an extensive juice bar menu. Next, we tried the grilled tofu salad, the baked tempeh, and the vegan soup of the day - mushroom barley. All were great but I'd go back for the mushroom soup alone. Presentation, taste, and creativity all come together in this casual grab and go cafe. There are tables in the front of the store. In terms of being a food store, this place is great. It carries most everything I need and has some fun additions - like the reasonably priced Tree of Life frozen food line. The organic frozen cherries, blueberries, broccoli, corn, etc. are all great. They stock lots of organic produce, have really good weekly sales on packaged goods, and sample out several products each day. Dean's gives back to the community by supporting the Somerset County Foodbank and the Cancer Support Community of NJ. The store also provides healthy cooking class series several times each year.
