Delicious local Rastafarian fare! - Edit
My mum and I were in Bridgetown having a bit of a wander around and got peckish, I had a quick look on HappyCow and found De Ultimate. As with many places in Barbados we had low expectations, there are so many times you go somewhere only for them to be unexpectedly closed, but not here. We were greeted by Grant Ricardo who immediately said 'Happy Cow?' and we laughed!
Read moreDe Ultimate is on New Kensington Road, so it's easy to walk from the centre of Bridgetown up Tudor St and turn when you see the church on the right and Christoph's in front of you. The road is newly resurfaced too so you'll know you're on the right track when you see the tarmac. De Ultimate is only about a minute's walk down the road. GoogleMaps was correct for us so if in doubt use that or ask the locals for directions.
Grant showed us into the back room where the counter was filled with food, predominantly vegan too. There were 2 options that had cheese and optional fish on one side, but 90% of the spread was fully vegan! I was so suprised.
Most of the people in there were locals which I always think is a good sign; this was real Bajan food, cooked for real Bajans, so if you're looking for a taste of their culture then look no further.
I had a big container full of food and it cost me only $20(BBD). It was so filling that I actually only ate half at lunchtime and took the rest home for dinner, so two meals for $20 is a bargain! They are generous with portions so you'll be fuelled for your afternoon and they have a range of drinks in the fridge too.
We can't wait to go back for the delicious food, and the great service from Grant Ricardo and the team!
Pros: 90% of the food is vegan, Delicious and reasonably priced food!, Nice laid back atmosphere in a clean environment

De Ultimate is amazing! An oasis of vegan and vegetarian food. The staff was super nice and inviting. I can’t recommend this place enough. Was not able to locate this on Google maps, but our taxi got us here no problem.

The owners where so friendly and where so happy to have us in! We can’t wait to return! They knew everything that was vegan and veggie and we felt in very good hands, everything was so tasty and it’s not to be missed if you’re looking for a little local cuisine!
Read moreThe place is hard to find from maps but if you go onto Kensington new road and pass the (Jama Masjid Mosque) you’re on the correct path, keep going alllll the way down that road you will feel like you’re on a residential road for a 5/10 mins but if the mosque was on your right hand side then so is De Ultimate you will see it there is seating inside and the bar to your left and the kitchen in the back. Very friendly locals got us there and found it and it’s so easy it find once your on the right path!

We went to De Ultimate for lunch and we were not disappointed. Portions are very generous, staff are super friendly and kind and the food is utterly delicious. There are a lot of vegan options. Great value for money too. 100% recommended.

A few blocks down fron the Oval cricket ground. Great friendly welcome and a very clean place to sit and eat.

Very tasty and filling, big box, see photos is 18 dollar, and for town is great value.
Great selection of natural juices, like sorrel mango, ginger,pineapple etc.
