What a gift! - Edit
My sister and I took my mother for a few days holiday to De Groene Gevel as her 80th Birthday gift. What an idyllic location, it was summer and the cottage was surrounded with exquisite gardens full of flowers. The view across the marshlands was lovely and the windmill and river on the other side is picturesque too (great for sundowners at the private moorings). The cottage is brand new and decorated in a simple and tasteful way. Our hosts, Ellen and Gilbert, were so friendly and responsive to any questions or needs we had.
Read moreSince it was a celebration we ordered the extensive version of breakfast and dinner. What a gift each meal was. Everything was vegan and gluten free and every single dish impressed us, each with its on package of fantastic flavour. Fresh, local produce was used, as well as herbs/fruit/veg from the garden. Ellen goes to great care not only to ensure her food is delicious, but she also presents it as a work of art. From the taste and the look of it, there is no doubt that Ellen loves cooking and you most certainly get amazing value for money. Treat yourself to a stay here, you won't regret it!
Pros: The food, cottage and gardens, The surroundings (rivers, walks, cycling), The friendly hosts
Cons: Take mosquito repellent, (but nets are provided!)

Amazing food! - Edit
Really friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. Incredible vegan meals, the best food we've had in a long time! Beautiful presentation and lovely fresh ingredients, some of them from the garden. We loved the fact we could stay in a house rather than a hotel and still have all our meals cooked for us😄The house was great with lovely décor and comfy bed. Scenic location with a windmill just across the road and a river you can swim in!

Het was fantastisch 🤩! Aanrader! - Edit

Lovely place & good vibes - Edit
We had an amazing time with 5 friends: swimming, campfire and the food was sooo good!! We had the dish of the day on the first day and it was such a treat that we went for the 3 course dinner on Saturday. Loved every bite of it - we had the vegan version with many local seasonal products!! Would highly recommend 🙌

Fantastic - Edit
De Groene Gevel is a true hidden gem! We had a fantastic time staying with Ellen and Gilbert. The house has every comfort to unplug and recharge, and the food was mind-blowing. Ellen is a superb chef who surprised us with every meal, and each dish was more delicious than the last.
Read moreIt was difficult for us to find a place where we could stay with our young toddler that also served vegan food. De Groene Gevel truly provided a place where we could unwind, and as young parents that is invaluable. Communication was easy and clear. We will absolutely return here for future stays!
Pros: Excellent food, Good value, Friendly staff

Amazing! - Edit
This was an amazing experience. Gilbert and Ellen are such inspiring people. They've built the whole guesthouse (and there own house!) themselves and Ellen made an AMAZING 3 course vegan dinner with so much flavor and detail to it.
Read moreThe guesthouse is very spacious with beautiful natural light and is surrounded by a big garden. There is a canoo to explore the surroundings. An activity I can recommand because just behind their house is a small nature reserve with a lot of different bird kinds. But the landscape is also perfect for biking or exploring by foot. It's close to Amsterdam in a very typical Dutch scenery with windmills, cows and old houses.
I stayed here with my boyfriend, but the house is also very suited for families. There are three different bedrooms and a very nice bathroom and even a small kitchen with vegan products.
