Culinairy art - Edit

This is a great restaurant if you enjoy surprising tastes and techniques. The creations are very colourful and original. The chef and his wife are friendly and knowledgable. I do recommend eating here, also for non-vegetarians that enjoy artistic food.

Between food and art - Edit

Walking into De Culinaire Werkplaats is like entering an artist's studio rather than a restaurant.
After a warm welcome from the hosts, we're shown to our table and the "concept" is explained- 5 courses based around a theme.
In this case it's Amsterdamned?, capturing the love-hate relationship between the hosts and the city wher they have lived and created food/art for several years.
The food is of a very high quality, and wonderfully creative - from the appetiser of lentil flatbread, to the coffee-shop inspired dessert, via Marrocan gay falafels (to represent the city's gay pride parade on the city's canals), dim sum parcels to represent the city's Chinatown, and a few other treats in between.
Drinks are help-yourself, and you pay what you want for the food.
It's not fast food (5 courses take almost 3 hours), but the creativity and atmosphere mean that there is never a dull moment.

Pros: Amazing creations, Delicious food, Pay what you want

Cons: Food so food, you'll want to pay a lot

Found this place today but we're unable to eat there as you needed a reservation (at least 24 hours in advance he said)

Looked lovely though! Not at all like the picture on here!

An amazing culinary experience in the Netherlands - Edit

Wow, this place is really special. The 5 course menu is imaginative and each dish has a great story behind it. The wine was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Because the dishes are small, you will not leaved stuffed but you will leave happy.

Pros: nice amosphere, creative, tasty food, fantastic service
