Meh. - Edit
Stopped by here when I was on a mini vaca in DC. I got the chick’s parm sub and it was kinda bland and difficult to eat with my braces. I was very underwhelmed. I’ll be back in DC this fall so might give it another chance and try something different since this place seems to have good reviews

good, not great - Edit
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Food was good, but many of the dishes we tried were on the dryer side: the sandwiches had a bit too much bread and not enough filling/sauce. The focaccia appetizer was also dry, did not have much flavor, and came with a side of grocery store marinara. The best dish we had was the potato skins appetizer.
Read moreDesserts were good, especially the “almond latte” flavored macaron.
Haven’t yet tried their entrees or botanical drinks (available with and without alcohol), as those are only available after 4pm and we were there for lunch.

Great appetizers! - Edit
The BBQ cauliflower appetizer was delicious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️As was the meatballs and sauce appetizer, but the meatball/sauce with pasta entree dish was not as good. I would pass on the ny cheese cake with one tiny berry (not berries). and the zero proof was nothing special.

Worth The Drive - Edit
While visiting D.C. I decided to try DC Vegan and it was the best decision. The location was eye catching and colorful. There is street parking but it wasn't hard to find a parking spot. The restaurant was very neat, clean, relaxed and organized 5⭐
Read moreI was greeted by John, who was the most warming, friendly and charismatic server I’ve met. John gave me the best recommendations to try. John was very passionate in providing the best service and I enjoyed every moment. 5⭐ They have a very large vegan menu. I enjoyed the Philly jackfruit (similar to Philly Cheese Steak), The Chesapeake fritter (similar to a crab cake sandwich) Buffalo Cauliflower Wings with vegan blue cheese, French fries, a slice of vegan strawberry and an organic Pomegranate drink. The food was Phenomenal and tasted A-MA-ZING. This was a true 5⭐ experience. I will definitely be returning here the next time we visit D.C. I wish there was a closer location but I will find an excuse to take the drive there lol

Superb - Edit
This magical botanical restaurant was everything I thought it would be and more! The staff was super helpful and fun. I had the white sangria for happy hour, and the snapdragon cocktail (which was Divine! And I’m not a cocktail gal) the trumpet mushroom calamari was surprising and very tasty, good crunch. I ordered the wild mushroom ragout on the polenta cakes and that was also out of this world. Highly recommend going. Take the metro if you can to DuPont circle and it’s a short walk.

Absolutely worth a visit - Edit
Went here for dinner, but ended up with cake! They had a vast range of vegan cheesecakes in addition to several other sweet baked goods. They also sell vegan cheese and the staff is absolutely lovely. The menu is varied and well put together and you can order fancy drinks downstairs where there is a bar.

Good food, good drinks! - Edit
The drinks were spectacular! Some of the food was a little too salty, and some didn’t have enough salt, but a lot of the other dishes my group tired were great.

Excellent vegan food - Edit
I tried the Trumpet Mushroom Calamari, the Jackfruit Philly, and the Wedding soup. I have never had wedding soup and I have read about it a lot since researching vegan recipes. I thought soup was delicious especially with the house made meatballs that come with it. The Philly was absolutely amazing. I am not a Philly aficionado but the texture and flavor of the “meat” was great along with the house made garlic aioli and cheddar cheese. Especially satisfying was the thin layer of crunch on the bun while the rest was fluffy and chewy. I was impressed that they went with trumpet mushrooms for the calamari. At lot of work to create that deep fried rings look. Not as crunchy as I would like it but it had a nice flavor when combined with the squeeze of lemon and the calamari sauce they provide.

Ok food, not great - Edit
The food is OK, but did not live up to the hype from other reviews. We had 2 entrees, an appetizer, a dessert, and a zero proof drink. The appetizer, ricotta and herb focaccia, was probably the best dish of the meal. The chocolate mousse cake was also tasty. The entrees were just ok and salty...Not worth the price overall.

Almost a 5 star - Edit
This place was a vibe. Located in a cool are with very friendly staff. Food was good sauce and veggies were tasty and fresh. The tofu however was not seasoned well and pretty bland. The star of the show was the caramel apple cheesecake. Hands down one of the best desserts I’ve had!

Best vegan in DC! - Edit
This is the best restaurant I tried in DC. First I had lunch upstairs in their deli. Nice environment, employees are awesome, and the food was delicious. I ate the meatball bowl. I also bought some cheese from the deli, all worth it! The blue cheese was just surreal! I highly recommend.

Great Sammies - Edit
Tried a couple of sandwiches on a recent trip to DC. The staff was helpful and the food came out fast. I didn’t like that the sides cost extra, and would have liked to see more drink options. We had a nice table outside but the nearby construction made the experience a little less great than we wanted. All in all, I’d definitely go back!

Great food and super friendly service - Edit
Stopped in for a sandwich and fries. I guess that sounds a bit boring given all of their amazing menu options. But how often do you get to eat an artichoke heart sandwich! I’ll be in town a few days so I hope I get the chance to return. I met the owners who were also dining on the outside porch. They also operate the only vegan catering business in D.C. Cool place, great food, nice people, neat story, awesome vibes. Vegan or not, you can’t go wrong here.
