Be very careful eating vegan - Edit
I use to love ordering soups and pumpkin empanadas from here until we went in and I ordered the vegan pad Thai, there was bits of meat in the dish, the manager said they reuse the same pan over and over without washing it out so you might end up with bits of the last order. How is that vegan???

Vegan options on menu - Edit
So, many might say this isn't the best place for vegan food, but I think it's fair game. Just ask your server about the oyster sauce and the fish sauce. If you opt for things that have no sauce, you'll be fine - emphasizing sautéed and no sauces. That might be boring, but, it's the safest bet if you doubt the servers.
Read moreThat being said, I ordered noodle soup one time and noodle salad another time. The "sauce" on them was salt, oil and some lime - nothing brown, as that can be questionable. I also asked for vegan and lots of veggies, and I was very surprised that they made the request so full of veggies! It was great! Most places that have Asian noodles do not give nearly enough veggies. This place was great for that reason.
The appetizers are plentiful - like garden rolls and salad. There are also empanadas. The noodle portions are huge, so the price is justifiable because of that. They have sticky rice and mango for dessert, also a generous portion. There's pad Thai, but given what other reviews have said, I might avoid that, too!
Pros: Vegan menu items marked, Large portions
Cons: Emphasize no fish or oyster sauce

Tofu drunken noodles (vegan) $13 - Edit
Good flavor but not many veggies, the dish is about 75% noodles, so not very nutritional.
Read morePros: The tofu option is cheaper than the other ones.
Cons: Low nutritional content.

Deceptive Labeling - Edit
Vegans/Vegetarians beware - this is another in the frustrating trend of restaurants marking items "vegan/vegetarian" in order to bring in business, either not knowing, or not caring, what it actually means for food to be vegan/vegetarian.
Read moreWe came to DC Noodles after seeing the good reviews from vegans on HappyCow and Yelp. We saw that the pad see ew was marked vegan, and the menu said "vegan items will exclude egg," so I asked the waitress just to confirm that the dish had no fish or oyster sauce. She responded immediately that it did have oyster sauce, but that they could tailor dishes to diners' allergies. Hearing this, my partner stepped in and asked if we could order the pad see ew without egg or oyster sauce. The waitress responded no, that oyster sauce was part of the preparation of the dish and that they were not, in fact, able to change that dish. This means that at least one dish - clearly marked vegan on DC Noodles' menu - is not, and cannot be made, vegan or even vegetarian.
Not wanting to go through this deceptive runaround with the entire menu, we just played it safe and ordered edamame and garden rolls. These were fine, but nothing we couldn't have made at home much cheaper. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience; diners with dietary restrictions (at least ones that want to have some semblance of a social life outside of their own kitchen) have to put their trust into restaurants, and it's frustrating to find establishments, like this one, that abuse that trust.
Cons: Deceptive veg*n labeling

Very good, many options - Edit
After a previous reviewer said there were a lot of vegan options, I looked at their menu online. Don't be alarmed--their online menus don't appear to indicate much vegan fare, but their menu in the restaurant is very clearly vegan marked and there are in fact a variety of options in every category. I had the noodle soup with spicy broth, tofu, and rice vermicelli noodles, which was delicious. Waitress was able to answer right away about which items were vegan that I was unsure about. Nice option for us very close to home.

Delicious food, lovely presentation - Edit
I went here with my parents before seeing a show in DC and I must say it was wonderful. I was shocked at how many vegan options there were (all marked with a vegan symbol) not only in the main dishes, but appetizers as well. My mom and I split the veggie roll appetizer which was 2 large spring roll type rolls with rice paper, greens, carrots, rice noodles, and some kind of spiralized beet that came with a really good Thai peanut sauce for dipping. For main dishes I got the noodle salad with wide rice noodles and tofu (also came with bean sprouts, onion, peanuts, and some kind of a sauce) and my mother got the vegan pad see ew with tofu. Our waitress was very sweet and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We got there fairly early in the evening so it wasn't very crowded, but as we were leaving more and more people were arriving which is a good sign. The atmosphere is very modern and eclectic with art installations right in the restaurant. I will definitely make this one of my go-to spots for Thai food!
