Not truly vegan, but a good start

I had the tostadas subbed with the vegan option of tofu and dairy-free cheese. The flavour was 5/5; these were really good. It's disappointing that they don't use a separate fryer for the tofu, however; the server informed us of this when I ordered but we'd been waiting for ages and I didn't want to foce my omni family to eat somewhere else. rI don't feel anything should be listed on a menu as "vegan" in 2022 if it's not cooked separately. That said, to Calgarians this is an iconic brunch spot and I'm glad that they have made efforts to incorporate plant-based options on the menu. If they're able to go just a little further it would make all the difference.
This is a busy place; if you do go, especially for brunch, use their online system to reserve a spot 30+ mins in advance and then roll up rather than waiting.

Pros: Undeniably good cooking, Cute & funky interior

Cons: No separate fryer, not fully vegan, Busy, A little pricey

Not really anything vegan on the menu..

Everything is cooked with meat!!!!!!
We went for dinner here and afterwards I was really sick, couldn't place my finger on why.. We returned today only to find out they do not have a dedicated anything. It's all cooked with meat not just Hashbrowns .... Explained it all.

Pros: Black bean soup is actually vegan

Cons: Everything cooked with meat 😑

Really good tostadas!

Dairy Lane is very busy! We tried to go once but it would have been over an hour's wait around peak time. Went around 2 pm on a Saturday and we didn't have to wait long. The service was really friendly. It's a bit of a noisy restaurant when it's full and busy, but cozy and nice all the same.

The vegan tostadas were really great. Rather than eggs and cheese, it comes with tofu and a vegan cheese sauce. Really delicious, I ate every bite!

*FYI: hashbrowns are fried in the same oil that meat is fried in!! *

Pros: Friendly service, Yummy food

Cons: Busy, Long waits

Cute date spot

One of our favs for brunch or dinner! The breakfast tostadas made with tofu instead of eggs are to die for (and gluten free as well). If not there early enough for breakfast/lunch, the vegan burger is great (GF bun is NOT vegan) and their soups are usually vegan and GF as well. Would like more vegan/GF options please!!! =)

Cute little cafe

Dairy Lane Cafe is small cafe in West Hillhurst. I recently tried the Vegan Breakfast Scramble and I wanted to come back for dinner to have the vegan veggie burger! I really appreciate that they mark down which items are vegan and that they have several options available.

When I went, it was very busy and we had to wait a bit, but the host was very honest about the wait time and very friendly. Once we sat down, the food came out fast.

Overall, this place a is a great place for veg*ns going out with non-veg family/friends because there is something to please everyone.

Pros: Specifies vegan items , excelent food, local, environment friendly

Cons: Small/busy, Only one location :(

Best little dinner!

As someone who's slowly weening myself from a meat based diet to a plant based diet, Dairy Lane provides food that I would go vegan for. This small plain looking dinner with very happy and friendly staff, lit with big bright windows makes for a very good local experience.

The place is a bit smaller than most restaurants, so we had to wait a few minutes, but boy was what I got worth the wait. Even their starter salad, which at most places is sloppily made, was elegantly decorated with a generous array of greens and dressing fine enough for a king. The Diary Lane burger, filled with ample amounts of greens, was prepared fresh and was it ever delicious!

Long story short, if anyone says that a vegetarian diet can't be fun, incredibly delicious, filling and inexpensive, they have to have a try at Dairy Lane.

Pros: Yummy, Good Service, Inexpensive

Cons: Not all Vegan, Small, Lacks Noise Control
