Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian restaurant with vegan choices. Menu includes samosas, takda dal, aloo gobi, chana masala and more. Open Mon-Fri 11:00am-2:00pm, Mon-Sun 4:00pm-9:00pm.
Tasty indian food and heaps of vegan options! I'm seriously impressed with the quality of food here, did not expect to find such good indian food in Port Augusta (but I also don't know this city enough to be fair). We had a kaju masala and kadai paneer, both veganised, with rice and roti.
All dishes from the entire vegetarian section can be made vegan, except for malaiu kofta. Also the naan can be made vegan, or is vegan. Just make sure to specify, the staff understands vegan well.
Note for visitors in November 2024: they apparently will do a vegetarian/vegan month, so sounds like a great occasion to eat there.
Last comments, we went on a Friday evening, place was busy but we got a table without reservation. The dishes arrived quickly, unfortunately the place was quite loud.
We had walked around in circles in the Port Augusta CBD Friday evening looking for a suitable place to eat. The place seemed closed except for a couple of pubs and the supermarkets so we drove out of town a bit and stumbled upon Curries by Beard Brothers. We'd driven past the restaurant on the way in from Adelaide, the place looks like nothing when it's closed so we not noticed it before. Turns out it's a very busy restaurant which is the best and worst thing about the place. Buzzing when we arrived, I found the usual vegan suspects on the menu - we ordered quickly as we were HUNGRY! Entree plate of samosas, bahjis, and potato cakes took a while to arrive but were hot and good. The main meals took more than an hour to be served but were not too bad when we finally ate them. Would try the place again as it is maybe one of the few places to reliably have more than a couple of vegan and vego options on the menu - definitely avoid peak times unless you have heaps of spare conversations or stuff to read on your phone.
