Best vegan food beautiful decimus iconic building

Jackie is known for her lovely food, some things she grows in her garden to use in the kitchen. Rarely do you get beans cooked for perfect texture like these or if you visit South America. It is very much not anglicised South American food.

I have also had a vegan pesto twist with coffee it was very light and nice. Nut whey cheeses are exceptionally nice and popular. Cake is offered and many variations at times, Cumbria Kitchen also hosts guest popups I went to the opening one which Helen from the Bathing Hut Cafe provided for Burns night.

The sea front and cycle path is just the other side of the road. There are plenty of café and restaurants providing excellent vegan in Hastings and St Leonard's.

I believe Jackie is herself vegan, her food is some of the best that can be had in a town where vegan food is of a high standard.

Unique Columbian food

This is a South American cafe bar on Hastings seafront. The chef owner, Jackie, also owns a vegan cheese business called It’s nut whey cheese and the cheeses feature in the menu. The vegan brunch sandwich was tempting but I really wanted to try the arepas which are a kind of Columbian taco, but soft and chewy and yet crispy. Jackie made me two arepas, one with black beans and sweet coconut plantains, and the other with tempeh bacon and cashew blue cheese. Both were drizzled with avocado sauce and garlic sauce and a dollop of salsa and both were a real taste explosion. There were lots of vegan cake options so I went with the pistachio cream which was absolutely delicious 👌
The vibe at Cumbia Kitchen is great, with a friendly welcome, gorgeous decor and cool music. Recommended!

Delicious Food

The person who runs this place is really friendly. She lived in South America for years and too an tell this from the menu and the quality of the food. There were many vegan options on the menu and all were clearly marked. The food was delicious.
