I’m standing at a crossroad….

Crossroads kitchen is one of the top vegan hot spots in L.A. and now I know why. I loved the atmosphere, the L.A. food scene vibe, and that EVERYTHING is vegan. Check out my full review on my blog: https://thatjenngirl.com/blog/2165/vegan-in-l-a-crossroads-kitchen

Pros: Full bar

Cons: need reservation

Great upscale restaurant

One of the better vegan restaurants I’ve been to. Went here with my fiancé and we shared 5 savory meals a dessert and truly enjoyed it all.

Absolutely Delicious!

This is a beautiful, more upscale venue with delicious food! Perfect for a nice date. We ordered the corn chowder, quiche, eggs Benedict, and chicken and waffles and everything was so flavorful with great presentation. So glad we came! Also, I have an almond allergy and our waiter went through every item on the menu with me to verify my options. Great service!

Pros: Delicious vegan food, affordable for quality, Beautiful ambience, Friendly, helpful service

Incredible food, terrible service

I was so excited to try Crossroads while in LA... The food was some of the most creative and delicious vegan food I’ve ever had—crab cakes, fettucine carbonara, and a peach sundae. That being said, the service was snooty, inconsistent, and disorganized. The atmosphere inside was beautiful, but unwelcoming.

Good food

The food here is good but I have never been completely satisfied with what I order. Which is too bad since there are so few really nice vegan restaurants. The atmosphere is amazing and it is quite comfortable to sit anywhere in this place. It gets very busy though and I feel like they have so many people to take care of that they don’t really pay attention to details of the food or service or if a customer is unhappy. It’s also very expensive. I recommend trying it and it’s also great for special occasions.

Great food & friendly staff

We arrived just before closing, but the staff were still happy to answer questions & put in an order for whatever we wanted. We had the most amazing pasta & crab cakes! All delicious!

No words, just go

This place seems a bit more formal, I've been on a week day for lunch, no reservation needed. The food is out of this world, plant based on an above average level. Serve the impossible burger. The cookie for dessert was not so beautiful, but it surprised me so yummy. It's worth the visit!

Disappointed

I had heard so much about this place and finally ventured out there yesterday.
I ordered the charred ricotta which was very bland and barely had enough glaze on it. The impossible cigars were good but very plain. The crab cakes were on the dry side and the fetuccine Alfredo was extremely on the salty side . Id say the best thing we had there was the spicy meatball pizza . It was not great but it was good.

Pros: Great job at imitating taste of meat

Cons: Overpriced for the quality of food that is being o

Fancy vegan dinner

This place is far from a typical vegan restaurant. It’s impossible to tell from the outside or inside that you are in a 100% plant base place. It feels very luxurious.
The food was really amazing but I was also a little disappointed by the complexity of the flavour.
To me it’s really good at replicating omnivorous type of food but it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. The portion are really tiny and it’s very expensive too.
But overall definitely worth going.

Pros: really tasty food, doesn’t feel like eating vegan food

Cons: a little expensive

Disappointing

I had been looking forward to visiting Crossroads for a couple of years. During a vacation to southern California, my wife and I stopped by fairly late into dinner service but well before closing time. Our server speed-talked his way through everything. He didn't seem the least bit concerned about us, apart from the quickness with which he could get us out of there. We shared a few dishes. The meatball pizza was good, but I make better crust at home with a regular electric oven. The meatballs themselves were good, as was the parmesan. We also got Impossible cigars, roasted sun chokes, and crab cakes. Some flavors were better than others. Nothing blew me away. And for that cost, I want to be blown away. I was heartbroken by the experience, considering how long I'd been leafing through their cookbook and dreaming about eating there.

Cons: Nothing all that tasty, Server was rushing through everything

Tasteful and Wonderful

We came here to try a new place for our anniversary dinner. This restaurant serves tapas-style plates. We got the kale caesar salad, oyster mushroom plate, lasagna, risotto, crab cakes, and roasted ricotta plates. All were great, but the lasagna is probably the best I've ever had!

Staff was attentive, courteous and, most importantly, non-intrusive with their service. The atmosphere was pleasant and the music performed elsewhere was at a subtle volume.

Highly recommended for an "event restaurant."

Great food

I went here with my family for my birthday dinner
I was amazed at the taste
My mom and I had the scallopini
My brother had the kale Caesar salad
The cake was #1!
The only complaint was that the scallopini was too thin
The menu is seasonal
It’s a great vegan dining place

Pros: Good quality food, Good drink selection , Attentive staff

Cons: Scallopini very thin, Parking can be difficult

The Best

Hands down the best vegan spot ever. The artichoke oysters and crab cakes were two favorites. This place is a must if you are in LA!

Small plates

Enjoyed oyster mushroom shooters and lentil tempeh. The plates are small for the price but it's meant to be a finer dining experience.

Cool hip ambiance, great food, more casual than I’d expected

I loved it here! We have the cookbook and I was expecting something a little more formal, but was still pleasantly surprised. The food (at least lunch) was more low-brow (burgers & fries) than I’d expected but still remarkably tasty! Salad was great, it was my first time trying the impossible burger... all around a very cool very LA vibe. Trendy but still comfortable and welcoming.

Overpriced and Pretentious

We were on holiday from the UK and had been recommended to go here and try the impossible burger. We noticed that it was not on their dinner menu but was on both their lunch and late night bar menu. I emailed ahead to the contact on the website and via the open table booking regarding trying the burger at dinner time but got not reply. We were told at the door they could not offer it. I think it is a shame as we, as vegans, expect other restaurants to accommodate our diets and make special arrangements, but this vegan and very expensive restaurant were unable to bend the rules even a small amount and offer something that they would happily offer 90 mins later anyway!

We were told we should order a snack, starter and main as portions were small but we could definitely not afford all of that so we ordered three mains between two of us. Needless to say the portions were small and we left hungry.

I think if the food was of a high standard this would have been understandable as it was LA and, let's face it, vegan is 'trendy' now. However, the food was very average. We've had lasagnes, pizzas and pastas so much better elsewhere for half the price. The lasagne was obviously re-heated, the pasta bolognese contained about a tablespoon of mince in it in total and was not even garnished.

It seems that they are aiming for upper-market, perhaps celebrity clientele but the food really wasn't up to scratch for it.

I think it is great to have all vegan restaurants, having been a vegan for my whole 31 years and these only being a figment of my imagination as a child. But sadly I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Cons: Very over priced , Pretentious

Excellent food, meh service

The food was fantastic but it looked like the portions were smaller than the last time we dined here last year. I love the kombocha squash ravioli with pepitas, although six ravioli doesn't fill you up. I also like the butternut squash pizza, truffle potatoes, and scallopini.
They are cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. Unfortunately, our server was all thumbs. First, she spilled water on the table while pouring our glasses, and then knocked over the entire glass spilling it all over the floor. She came back to get our drink order, forgetting that she already took it. She had to return to our table again because she forgot if we also wanted sparkling water. She also brought out my main entree after my husband had finished his main entree, instead of at the same time.
Still, the food was fabulous.

Pros: food , ambiance

Cons: service

Amazing food...so so service.

Came for brunch and was surprised by the ambiance of the space. Not what I expected but definitely liked what we saw. Looks a bit more upscale than I'm used to with my fave vegan spots. Not an issue.

The food was incredible. Per usual we ordered heavily because everything sounded great and we wanted to try it all. Food was A

Service could use some work. Our waiter failed to bring us spoons with our yogurt parfait and we had to ask. Not a huge deal. Also my partner had to ask for sugar twice for his tea, again, not a huge deal but it seemed a bit amateur for a place of this look and feel. Finally our waiter dropped off our check before even asking if we wanted anything else, which we did, coffee and dessert. I'd go back for sure, just hope they can fix the service kinks.

Pros: food was A+

Cons: service was meh

Fine dining experience!

I have to say if you're looking for vegan fine dining then look no further BUT if you're looking for a nice meal at a good price this is not the place to go. The food is very expensive with small portions! But that's the point! It's fine dining, you're not suppose to get a huge meal here. You come here for some yummy small dishes and drinks. If you're not looking for that don't go here. In my opinion it's over priced! But the atmosphere and drinks are great!

Casual-upscale bold flavors

Since it first opened I've eaten here just twice, most recently this week. Here's my Crossroads Kitchen review.

Chef Tal Ronnen is well-known in the vegan/vegetarian world, and his investors/partners have put created a posh space for dining. The place is gorgeous, rich colors with hints of wood. Seating is divided into vinyl booths, tables, and bar stools in front of a wide full bar. Everything glistens, and large windows let in natural light. The high ceiling added to a feeling of spaciousness even though guests seat closely together.

On both visits staff were attentive, and our food arrived quickly as we knew to eat our dinner early. Portions are on the smaller side. Prices are moderate for being in this fancy part of town.

I've tasted so far the: cheese platter, caviar and fried oyster mushroom over artichoke leaves, crab cakes, day's special house made pasta, lasagna, spinach salad, kid's pizza, panna cotta with berry spread, and cannoli. All pretty good.

If you come during mealtime, expect to pay. Or eat early or just make a reservation.
