So many vegan choices at o e destination - Edit
We ate appetizers and entrees, and all were excellent. Our appetizers included: bbq seitan wings, kimchi pancakes, and a hot pretzel. Delicious, varied and huge appetizers. Our entrees included: quinoa veggie burgers with fabulous topping, arepas, and cauliflower sausage tacos. Service was excellent.

This is a great part of Denver. The menu features dishes from the tastiest countries around the world, such as South Korea, Mexico, and Italy. The waffles are fantastic, and they always have a new Waffle of the Week (WOW) to look forward to. I love this place. The only downside is they go super heavy on the salt, onions, garlic. Always a great place to go with friends, sure to be fun and satisfy all.

Try it - Edit
There were tons of choices and if it wasn't vegan, almost everything on the menu could be made vegan. Must be a local favorite because we went in there on a Sunday at 2 p.m. and there was a 30-40 minute wait. I had the bbq bowl with seitan and it was so good. Best vegan mac and cheese I've had in a restaurant.

Casual and Good - Edit
Very popular--went on a Sunday night around 6, if we would have waited for a table it would have been an hour. We sat at the coffee bar (they also have a cocktail bar) and had the best server (Sam Olken). After much deliberation, decided on Miso Cauliflower & Shishito Peppers and a Chipotle Quinoa Bowl. Both were flavorful, but the Quinoa bowl lacked color and the vegetables were sparse. I don't even remember seeing any except for the greens. The dessert was s'mores in a small ball jar-over-the-top sweet and hard to keep myself to "just a taste". I will be back to try the Pumpkin Curry Pasta and the Udon Noodle Bowl.

Yummy vegan options - Edit
I ate here for breakfast one day and lunch another day. I give the food 4-1/2 stars.. We shared a waffle and a skillet for breakfast. For lunch we had fried ravioli (turns out they aren't my kind of thing), curried carrot soup, roasted beet and cauliflower salad and some kind of rice bowl. All of that was very tasty. Breakfast was fast and easy. Lunch took a long time. I think we waited almost an hour for the food and then had to scarf it down since we had to be somewhere. It's definitely a super casual place. BTW, we didn't get dessert here but it turns out that the vegan bakery literally around the corner supplies some of their desserts. I had stopped in there while waiting for our lunch and everything I bought there is super delicious (Make. Believe Bakery. I will review them under their listing.

Great food, great service! - Edit
Recommended by a friend, this place was amazing! It was really busy, so had to wait a little for space and ended up eating at the bar, but still totally worth it! All the dishes we had were fantastic, especially the Wings from the appetizers list. They were really flavorful! I would highly recommend this place when visiting Denver.

Favourite Denver spot for Vegan food - Edit
I love City o' City. It's the noisier, hipster sister restaurant to the famous Watercourse.
Read moreSalads, pizza, and breakfast options are all amazing. The best items I've had there are: biscuits and gravy (the biscuits have shreds of carrot and zucchini in them and a totally amazing "sausage" vegan gravy), crispy breakfast potatoes, tempeh bacon hash (loaded with yummy veggies), and the vegan version of the Sardou sandwich. They have various desserts available and their bakery items are all excellent (and mostly all vegan) -- the infamously delicious ding-dong cupcake is the same as at Watercourse.
Note: while the Watercourse is all vegan, City o' City does serve eggs and cheese on some items (all clearly marked on the menu) so it's a nice breakfast option for omnis. We've taken egg-eating relatives here and they've loved the food just as much as the vegans in the family. It's also extremely crowded especially on weekends and noisy. Be prepared to bring a good book with you because you'll be waiting. It's so worth it though.
I'm glad I don't live next door to this place or I'd weigh 900 pounds.

Best food of your life - Edit
I have been vegan for 9 years and this is hands down the best vegan food I've ever eaten. City O' City has perfected vegan food. We ate here 3 times on a 4 day trip. If you can only eat at one place you must pick here!

The PB &J waffles were not as good as they sound.
I also had a pina colada scone that was flakey and soft.
-Curried carrot soup was good
-Kimchi pancakes are good, but very strong!
-Korean bbq tacos were out of this world! (I don't recommend the cauliflower tacos)
-The savory waffle is absolutely amazing and a must have!
--The bbq bowl was also quite delicious.
-The chicken and waffles was decent, but there is an odd tasting sauce that coats the cauliflower before it is fried. I'm not sure I would get it again.
The smores dessert is insanely rich and delicious.

Absolutely wonderful! - Edit
We went to City O' City based on Happy Cow reviews. Totally fabulous! I love going to a restaurant where I can order *anything* on the menu, instead of being limited to the few vegan options that some restaurants have. We took my 82 year-old parents. Not the best idea, because they had the impression it was a "hippie" place. But my mom's waffle with acai berry compote made her totally happy. I ordered the Korean tacos, and was in heaven. I will be making my own version of them tomorrow for my husband, who wasn't traveling with us. So far so excellent! My sister loved her huevos (yes, they serve eggs, but you can opt out). My dad was less than thrilled with his biscuits and gravy, though. He orders that for breakfast everywhere, and this version was gluten-free with vegan gravy. My sister and I tried it and loved it, though. I think my parents missed their sausage and bacon, but, hey. Welcome to my world, mom & dad. My sis and I even ordered kimchi pancakes to go, which we had the next morning. They were almost as fabulous re-heated. I will definitely be returning to the scene of this great meal next time I'm in Denver. And I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!! I can't wait to go back. (That will take 12 hours traveling, and I'm still psyched.)

Must Visit in Denver - Edit
I love City O'City, and every time I am in Denver I hit it up once if not multiple times. The menu is large, all vegetarian, mostly vegan, and everything I've had has been good.
Read moreThere is really something for whatever you are in the mood for. If you feel like splurging and ordering less than healthy fare, you can get seitan wings, fried vegan ravioli, vegan poutine, their breakfast sandwhich loaded with tofu and french fries...the list goes on. But they do have some healthier options, such as the kimchi stew or the udon bowl.
They offer brunch, are open and serving food until 2 AM (fantastic), and have all vegan desserts. I can't imagine going to Denver and not making it to City O'City. It's a person favorite.

Favorite Brunch Spot - Edit
We visit City O' City on a regular basis for a late weekend brunch. The new items on the menu are awesome!! Current obsessions: Chicken and Waffles (original and chipolte are both fantastic), Fried Ravioli are amazing!!!, and all the new tacos are delicious!... not new, but the classic Breakfast Burrito has never disappointed in years of ordering. We always get a side of breakfast potatoes. They are perfection. Great for lunch and dinner too, but we usually only make it for brunch since it is not in our neighborhood.

Wonderful! - Edit
I was in Denver for a few weeks this past summer, and I somehow didn't discover City O' City until I was about to leave!
Read moreThe atmosphere is trendy, but I didn't love it. I'm not a dark restaurant kind of girl, and we had to sit at the bar because it was crowded. (I prefer a table.) We also had to wait somewhere between 30-45 minutes to get in, so be prepared for that possibility. When we did it was quite loud, so talking was difficult. While I didn't love the atmosphere, you really can't fault a restaurant for being popular.
That said, the food and the service more than made up for any atmospheric gripes I had. Even though they were packed to the gills, the wait staff was very attentive and helpful. The food took a while to come out (again, because they were very busy, I assume), but when it did, it was TO DIE FOR. I can't remember what we had, but I can remember it was the best food we ate in Denver. There are a good number of clearly-labeled vegan options, too.
Pros: amazing food, helpful and attentive wait staff, many clearly-labeled vegan options
Cons: dark and crowded, long wait, portions could be bigger for the price
smasheasy
Dark, crowded, loud. I'd love to see an upscale re-make of the atmosphere, because the food is way elevated compared to the scene.

Good breakfast and happy hour - Edit
I had the special with green chile tofu, biscuit and potatoes, good meal, with unlimited coffee, reasonably priced. A good atmosphere and good service as well. I have since come back regularly for the happy hour; the bbq seitan, carrot soup and greens are excellent.

This is the best place I've ever eaten, ever. The fried chicken (cauliflower) and waffles.....out of this world. My husband and I ate here three times in one week aaaand got a fourth meal to go. Every thing we had between us was perfect. The buffalo tofu wrap....WOW. Perfect desserts. You often have to wait but 1,000% worth it. They're open until 2 a.m. which was fantastic- we went after a concert at Red Rocks. Servers were very friendly. Cant wait to return!

I love this place. Every time I'm in Denver I want to eat here. My faves are the Udon Noodle Bowl and the El Jefe: Stupendous! However, the service is inconsistent: Sometimes absolutely lovely; other times they treat me like a pest. Which I find really ironic, because there is literally an entire city of mice living there, running around, dodging people's feet and gathering crumbs. I dont entirely fault them. They open up the entire corner to create an open-air atmosphere when weather permits. What can I say, I'm a risk taker. It's worth it for the El Jefe burger. Have a glass of wine and watch the mice play. They're adorable.

Not Great Service / Average Food At Best - Edit
I saw great reviews for this restaurant, so decided to try it. I sat at the counter, as the restaurant seemed quite crowded. It took over 5 minutes before anyone behind the bar noticed I was sitting there, and they were not so busy as not to even hand me a menuI ordered, based on a recommendation from one of the people behind the bar the udon. I found it to be very salty, and just not that good. The restaurant was far too loud for my taste.

HIP af - Edit
Not only was this place poppin' on the Friday evening we showed up, but vibe was really something. My partner and I put our names in for a 25 minute wait (that ended up being a 45 minute wait, worth it). We're from New England, where our veg options are much more limited so the ability to have anything on the menu was delightful. We had the miso cauliflower and the smoky tempeh salad to start. DIVINE. For the main course, we had both the pasta gremolata and the udon noodle bowl- which had the best damn broth I've ever had. Spicy and complex, words do it no justice. You will regret not going here. I only wish we had come once more before leaving Denver.
