A family gathering made special. - Edit
Linda and I met our daughter and brother and sister in law- who drove in from Phonix- at this Happy Cow suggested Mexican Restaurant in La Quinta near Palm Desert and Palm Springs.
Read moreThis is a cute little place with something wonderful whether we are Vegan or they eat everything.
I have pictured the Vegan Bowl and the Hummus plate Linds and I ordered. They were great! Our older waitress seemed to encourage our hanging out talking away for a couple of hours.
Pros: The three Vegan options are wonderful., The place was very pleasant to spend time talking., The waitress was helpful and laid back.
Cons: Not cheap but worth it.

Decent - Edit
I ordered the vegan pancakes. They were fairly good and the cinnamon butter was nice. They're gluten free but weren't chewy and had the texture of regular pancakes which is a plus. My only complaint is that the "real maple syrup" tasted like regular pancake syrup. The fruit on the side was strawberries and blueberries which were super tasty. I also like that they offer non-dairy milks for your lattes/coffee beverages. I'll definitely be coming back to try some drinks and other food items.

Oh my stomach - Edit
I saw they have vegan pancakes so I was excited. One of my pancakes was not fully cooked and I think they put real butter on it or it’s not really vegan or maybe the Pat milk was real milk. My stomach is exploding as I ask lactose intolerant. That’s why I know there was dairy somewhere in my food. The waitress was nice though slow. The decor is very cute. 🫤

Tasty Vegan Options - Edit
The Palm Springs area can be a bit of a vegan food desert so we were happy to find this place with vegan options clearly labelled on the menu.
Read moreWe tried the vegan bowl and vegan pancakes. Both were great but the cinnamon butter on the pancakes really stood out.
We will definitely keep Chula on our list of options when we are in the Coachella valley.

Great food, great vibe - Edit
Really cool place with good vegan options, including dessert. Not going to blow your mind, but a solid choice in an area without many other choices. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Served me meat on “accident” - Edit
I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ordered a vegan burger, had a long discussion with the woman taking my order about it, and then they gave me a meat burger. It was unfortunately part way through before I realized, and I was livid. Their excuse was that the patties look similar, and that there was no option for a vegan burger on their register. Can’t trust this place.
