My favorite meal in Seoul - Edit
This place is out of the way from the tourist track, but it is really worth the trip on the 1 line (or if you go out to Yongmaland, it’s only about 4 stops on the Gyeongui-Jungang line). It was one of the most authentic-feeling vegan restaurants I ate at. The menu is small but the portions are bountiful. Amazing kimchi in particular!
Read moreWe split the mushroom dumpling stew for two people and it was so good. We ordered it spicy and that was both a win and a mistake for us; I loved it but it was too hot for my dining partner, who likes spicy food but has a threshold. This is Korean food for Koreans, not tourists, so that’s something to keep in mind when considering spice level.
I could not have been happier to find this place. It is worth going out of your way for. English is not spoken but the women working will help you figure things out. Being a translation app on your phone like Google lens to help you read the menu or just point at something and hope for the best!

Tasty food - Edit
Small little restaurant. Wasn't busy at all when we went there, by the end we where the only people. It was staffed by two older Korean lady's that evening, who didn't really speak English. Menue has only a few dishes and was only in Korean as well, but you can just translate it with papago. You can also look at the menue in advance on Naver maps.
Read moreYou get some kimchi and water for free and the meals are affordable as well. My Korean partner said that the dishes had a more 'exotic' taste (whatever that is supposed to mean haha) but we both found it delicious.
If you are in the area, it's definitely worth it to stop by.
There was no floor seating anymore.

Tasty, traditional vegan Korean food!
Read moreAlmost no English spoken 😅
And the menu is not translated very well, so just be prepared to order and not know what you are getting. We had 2 noodles dishes that were super tasty! And pretty cheap as well!
Pros: Cheap , All vegan , Big portions
Cons: A break from 2:30-4, No English , Menu is not accurate

My go-to place - Edit
This is the only true home cooked traditional Korean food that I’ve found available in vegan version 🌱 the portions are big and everything on the menu is savory
Read moreIt’s really cheap too, considering the portion size
You’ll always get kimchi at the beginning and sweets at the end of your meal
Be careful only about opening times, they might want to close earlier (around 18.00 or 19.00) in some days

Great vegan food in a traditional Korean restaurant - Edit
Yummy food, all vegan and large portions for a VERY reasonable price. Between three of us we had vegetable mandu (야채만두), mandu and rice cake soup(만두떡국), vegetable noodle soup (야채칼국수) and tofu (모두부) and we had food left over! They also gave a huge pot of very delicious kimchi as service (for free). The total was 25,000₩ for three people, so around £15 or £5 each.
Read morePros: All vegan menu , Great price for the amount and quality of food, Very empty so easy to get seat
Cons: Very empty (although we went early at 4.30pm), Not advertised online, but they closed 2.30-4pm

Healthy home-style Korean food - Edit
You can get a taste of many typical Korean dishes here, but veganized and with mostly "healthier" ingredients!
Read moreThe hand-cut noodles (Kalguksu 칼국수), for example, are made with whole wheat and other grains. Several dishes feature brown rice instead of white rice as well. The menu contains a variety of dishes, there are noodle dishes, rice dishes, stews (for 2 persons), sweet and sour mushrooms and much more! You will get a jar of Kimchi and cut it yourself with scissors. At the end of your meal, they give you a bowl of Korean popcorn (Ppeongtwigi 뻥튀기) and offer to wrap it into a bag for you if you cant finish it so you can take it to-go.
The taste is okay, more on the "healthy" side because of whole grains. Most of their ingredients are from Korean agriculture and they do not use GMO starch or beans.
A few pieces of tableware weren't clean and the place looked a bit run-down, but the atmosphere is friendly and homey. Everyone has to take off their shoes and sit on the floor here, which is warm because of the traditional floor heating. Also, there are maaany plants! :)
The price is comparably low. Overall, a nice vegan restaurant for this neighborhood.
By the way, the restaurant has been operating for a while and doesn't seem to have changed much in the meantime. Even the food decoration is the same! It is run by followers of the Seventh Day Adventists, and fellow church members frequent this place.
Pros: Taste okay, Good ingredients, Affordable price
Cons: Bit run-down by now...

Worth the trek! - Edit
Very affordable and delish vegan Traditional Korean food. Homey vibes. Some of the most flavourful banchan (side dishes) we had in all of Seoul. The suburbs does food better ;)
Read moreHot tip for if it's your first time:
- The kimchi is COMMUNAL, you can eat as much as you like but DO NOT eat straight from the kimchi pot. Use the tongs to take as much as you can eat, and use the scissors to cut it up into small bits onto the given plate!
We ordered the last thing off the english menu, the 'Mushroom Stew' - stew is an understatement, it's a sizzling hot pot of soup that bubbles on your table!!!

A little hidden treasure to find. Felt very at home in this cute little restaurant. The food was fresh, and filling. The flavor did not disappoint. I was very happy with the service, and the kind server. I would highly recommend this place.

I agree with everyone that the menu makes it a worthwhile visit. However, they just increased their prices, meaning that a meal bellow 8,000 won is hard to find

Amazing - Edit
Green Field is awesome! It’s the best authentic Korean restaurant in Seoul AND its vegan. There’s classic floor seating, plants everywhere, and Korean TV dramas going on in the background. The ladies who work there are so sweet. They dont speak any English but they try to help you any way they can. It's a very homey environment. You definitely feel warm and welcomed. And the food… OH MY GOD! You get not one but TWO different types of kimchi (white and red). Everything there is wholesome and delicious. They have everything from dumplings, stuffed mushrooms, and mungbean jelly, to lotus wrapped rice and giant soups to share. The perilla soup is my all time favourite! I highly recommend it. Its cute but they always bring a bowl of popcorn for dessert too. Its all so cheap, 100% vegan, delicious Korean food and everything is homemade. I bring all my veggie friends and omni-family members from abroad and they all love it.
Read moreIt is a bit confusing to get to the first time you go. It’s definitely a hidden treasure but well worth the hunt.
The only down sides are that they are closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Ive also provided a rough translation of the menu in happycows pictures above. The menu at the resto is all in Korean so I highly recommend you save the translated version on you phone so you know what to order when you get there.

Worth seeking out if you want authentic Korean vegan food - Edit
Thanks for the directions and the photographs - without careful study of both, I would never have found this great place!
Read moreEverything the previous reviewer rburrke said is correct. I phoned first, and they confirmed they were open. When you are just about to give up, you see a doorway leading to some stairs, and up you go! In traditional Korean style, your take your shoes off when you enter (I'm glad I didn't have holy socks on!) I was offered a menu only in Korean characters, but the lady sat next to me was able to translate and advise. At 6 pm it was already too late to have fried, vegetable stuffed, pastry parcels, but I could have steamed ones (thanks again to the kind lady sat next to me for negotiating that!). They were great, but surpassed by the spicy vegetables with noodles, which combined some really interesting flavours.
Kimchi and popcorn seemed to be given free (but as any vegan in Korea for any length of time will tell you, you can have too much Kimchi - and often it seems that is all you will get!)
Pros: Authentic Korean, Great atmosphere - worth going just for that
Cons: No photographic or English menu, Sitting on the floor can be a challenge

Saturday - closed? - Edit
I went on a Saturday at 1:30pm. The opening hours said 11am to 8pm (11am - 3pm Fridays). The door was locked so I'm not sure if the restaurant is open. There were lots of healthy looking plants on the stairwell so it didn't look abandoned, also all the signs were still up.
