Mixed customer service

I used to be a regular here about 5 years ago. I found that the customer service was either REALLY really bad or pretty good depending on who you got to serve you (it was always one of two people there, I believe the owner and his daughter). At one point they had a second location in Pickering and I double checked with the staff that all the baked goods were vegan because I couldn’t believe it (it was too good to be true). When I asked the lady to make sure the 2nd time that what I wanted to order was definitely vegan, she was really annoyed by me so I backed off and just went ahead and ordered.

I took one bite of the lemon bar and immediately didn’t feel right eating it so I stopped.
The next week I went to the Ajax location and asked which items are vegan and they said all of them except this and this. One of which was the lemon bar. I explained that I was told by the other location that it’s vegan and that she was even annoyed that I wanted her to double check. I told the owner that I ate some of it and I’m vegan. He literally took both of his hands and arms into a large shrugging motion and didn’t say anything!

Regardless I decided to go back a year later because I was told by someone else that before their baked goods were mostly vegan but now they are all vegan. I went back and had the owners daughter serve me and she was super helpful and very friendly. I went for a while and maybe I’d go again but it really depends on who is there. Also I question the freshness of the baked goods.

I have not been there since 2019 so I can’t say what it’s like now.

I tried to rate a 5 but it’s reserved for fully vegetarian places

I buy all sorts of things here on a regular basis… among my favourites are the soft white French bread, vegan russian keto lasagna, walnut brownie, cheesecake…. And more …. So so yummy

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Customer Service Unbelievably Rude

I've been going to this bakery for some time now so I guess I would be considered a regular customer. It is the only gluten free, dairy free, grain free bakery local and although for the most part I have always enjoyed the food items the customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Having 3 successful local businesses myself I received a very wise piece of advice starting out as an entrepreneur many moons ago and that was you never know who you are speaking to so treat each customer like they are gold. My family all work in the health field so this bakery has the potential of receiving many referrals from us however the way you are treated from the time you walk in the door to the time you leave is like they don't care that you are a paying customer, it's like your just another number. Here is a prime example. They are only doing pick up orders right now due to Covid. Their opening hours are 10 am. I called in just prior to that and placed my order. I was told it would be a 15 minute wait due to them having previous orders and they do not want groups standing at their door for pick up. I placed the order in their parking lot and at 10:20 walked up to the door. At which time they opened the door and said " next time we should call when we are there". At no time during our wait did anyone else pick up anything. We certainly were not a priority and left again with the feeling that we do not matter. I can say this, all it would take is another one of this kind opening in the area and based on the same type of reviews that I've read to let me know I am not alone, I would be there in a second.

Cons: Short answers when questions asked about products, Questions not answered at all, Rude attitude

All the baked goods are vegan!

Amazing little place. A bit off the beaten path but well worth it. The desserts were amazing and all vegan and gluten free. Would live here if I could!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Cute cafe, Knowledgeable staff

Cons: If you don’t like gluten free it might be a shock, A bit out of the way

Not bad

Honestly I didn’t really like anything that I ate here. I still want to try crepes but out of the desserts that I shared with my family none of us really like any of them. But in all fairness this is our first gluten free experience. Might change later on when I eat more gluten free stuff. Cause right now I have nothing to compare it with

Pros: Lots of dairy free desserts

Cons: Expensive each dessert is 7 or more dollars

Pretty Overpriced For What Is Given

I ordered their Quinoa Power Bowl in UberEats and was pretty disappointed. I paid almost $25 for just the bowl and delivery (yikes). When I received it, it was just a mush of quinoa, beans and four pieces of spinach in a styrofoam container. It tasted okay but nothing outrageously amazing to have spent $25.

Pros: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options

Cons: Very expensive, Nothing special , They cheap out on what is actually given to you

Fabulous!

Bought several treats for our family here today. Every single one of them was absolutely fabulous. We're only in town for a week -- hoping to make it back to try the crepes before we leave!!

Many Vegan Options

Just discovered this little gem off the beaten path in Ajax. Enjoyed a vegan pizza for lunch and took home a delicious vegan date square. More vegan options than you usually find at these types of places

Pros: lots of vegan options

Cons: no service

Amazing treats, perogies and crepes

Choko Mocko (the name is spelled wrong in the Happy Cow listing) is a wonderful little restaurant and bakery.
Their lunch/dinner menu is not vegan, but has lots of vegan options such as perogies, crepes, potato latkes, and lasagna. They also have all the dishes frozen to take home. The food is all excellent, but the best part is the two large bakery display cases with ALL vegan baked goods.
Eclairs, muffins, mousse, tarts, cookies, nanaimo bars, squares, donuts, cakes, pies, bread... all vegan. Always a huge selection!
The entire restaurant is all gluten free, which I usually hate. I usually find gluten free tastes like cardboard... but they make it work. It's all very good.
There are 5 or 6 tables, so seating for about 20 or so.

Pros: everything is super yummy, mostly vegan -- tons of vegan options, huge selection of baked good

Cons: expensive, meals are not all vegan

excellent restaurant , very vegan friendly

All the baked goods are vegan and there is a huge variety. I have never seen such variety of vegan baked goods, cakes nanaimo bars, cookies, chocolate eclairs , date squares , and much much more
also the restaurant says that all their menu items can be made vegan. I had a crepe with vegan cheese and mushrooms and it was great. My son enjoyed a vegan lasagne and my husband had a vegan pie. They also have pasta and pizza , which also can be vegan. Also gluten free is not a problem. they bake fresh bread, gluten free.
We will be returning as it was very tasty and fresh.

Pros: huge variety of vegan options, food tasty and healthy, would be excellent to cater vegan event

Cons: first table we sat at was sticky, waitress also serves health food store
