Great food! - Edit
Amazing Chinese restaurant close to the big destinations in Nara. I was honestly floored when I saw that they had 9 separate vegan options. The food tasted amazing, and was served pretty quickly. The staff were very friendly and quick with their service!
Read moreThe food is a bit pricier than other options, and the options don't come with rice, so make sure to ask for rice if you want some with your meal. Not too bad though, my meal cost about ¥1600.
Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Nara!
Pros: Delicious food
Cons: On the pricier side

Nice but small portions - Edit
They'll bring you the vegan menu on request. Unfortunately they didn't have the set menu anymore, so I went for veggie mushroom soup and soymeat with veggies and cashews instead. The portions are quite small and you don't get rice with them (probably could order some extra rixe though), therefore the prices are quite high in my opinion.

Pros: Whole vegan menu

Lovely little lunch - Edit
Saw this on HappyCow and looked outside. No obvious vegan items on the menu outside so was a bit hesitant, but then I saw the HappyCow sticker on the window that said “vegan options” - very encouraging! We walked up the stairs on the right side and were greeted kindly by a man who took us to a lovely private table with curtains. You have to ask for a vegan menu, which they are happy to do. There were 6 vegan options. The stir fries did not come with rice so I went for the vegetable soup noodles and they were good! It was a good portion to fill me up, the noodles were good and the soup was very light and fresh. It was not a flavour bomb but I enjoyed it very much and it felt really healthy.
Read moreMy meal cost 990 yen and the ambience was lovely. Staff understood my English. It would be nice to have seen a vegan option on the set lunch menu but nevertheless, I’m happy I came here😄

Cheap and comfortable - Edit
We asked for the vegan menu, which they brought promptly. The servers were a little quirky—in a good way. It was really cheap, and we got free drinks for downloading their app. I had soy meat with cashews. It was very good except for the soy meat, which I had a hard time getting down, honestly. I would go back but definitely would only order a vegan dish without soy meat. I also got a free dessert with a birthday coupon from the app. Dessert was vegetarian but not vegan.

They still have a vegan menu - Edit
If you tell them you’re vegan, they will bring you a vegan menu. There’s also plain white rice on the regular menu you can order on the side. They have a good tea selection as well. Overall, the food was pretty good. The atmosphere is really nice and the staff were very friendly. Overall, we had a good experience and it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.

For a delicious dinner after a day in the shops, this place is a good option. Vegan menu, located in upstairs dining area, offers about 6 options.

A must try - Edit
While visiting Nara with my daughter, who is a vegetarian, she was craving Chinese food. This satisfied her craving for sure. An easy walk from Kintetsu-Nara station it was easy to find on the 2nd floor. Friendly staff who spoke enough English to make ordering easy. Just ask for the vegan menu and they’ll happily bring it to you. Food came out fresh, sizzling hot, and picture perfect. The taste did not disappoint either. Her sweet and sour ‘chicken’ looked and tasted delicious. You’d never know it was vegan unless someone told you. We’d definitely return if in Nara again. So nice to enjoy such a great meal together where we could each find a dish that suits something for everyone’s tastes.

I know this isn’t a fully veg place BUT this is best food I had on this whole trip! The sweet n sour soy meat was phenomenal, I could eat it every day. So, I’d recommend that OR the set. The set came with a veggie salad, rice, soup, and tofu. Very filling and very delicious!

Not too shabby! - Edit
The food here was wonderful, and stumbling upon a vegan menu on a walk through Nara was a rare treat! The vegan set was delicious and covered all the bases while still remaining filling and cost-effective. The manager/owner was even kind enough to give us a coin to wish us a happy new year as we paid and left, which was a sweet touch.
Read moreIt was a tiny bit difficult to communicate, understandably. The main issue we had was with average service as it took us a very long time to be served: while I was more relaxed, my partner almost got up and left due to the initial wait time as waiters walked past our table several times without taking orders or glancing towards us, while still helping other guests. After our orders were taken, however, we had few difficulties and enjoyed our food! My omni partner also enjoyed everything he ate, though the prices were a bit high.
Pros: Delicious food, Filling, Good variety
Cons: Average service, Somewhat high prices

Craveable - Edit
This was a great find in Nara. I had no problem at all getting the vegan menu, there was a clearly visible stack of them right when we walked up the stairs and into the restaurant. I had the vegan lunch set which was delicious and filling. There are also numerous a la carte vegan options, but the set includes smaller (but still substantial) portions of almost all of them, so it’s perfect if you’re an indecisive orderer like me. Happy Cow states cash only, but they do take cards (there is a 5% surcharge though). My omnivore husband was really impressed with his non-vegan dishes as well. I wouldn’t call it cheap, but prices are reasonable by Japan standards, especially for the quality and portion size.

No vegan options and no vegan menu - Edit
I asked the waitress and she said no vegan menu. Used the translator and still the response was no vegan anything. Tried to figure out an option but every single item on the menu had chicken bone broth. It was a very long way to walk from Nara Park to not have anything to eat with my family. Found Cfarm Curry House and thankful they had a all vegetable based Curry.

Surprisingly decent dishes - Edit
We stopped here for lunch and a drink and they do have a separate vegan menu which is awesome! We had the cashew stir fry and fried noodle soup which were both pretty decent. Not the best vegan dish I’ve had, but the mock meat for the stir was great! It’s close to the train station and convenient.

Nice Chinese Food, Menu available - Edit
Cozy place in the 1st floor of an arcade building. I had two courses and 1 pint and came out at 2700Y.
Read moreStir fried soya meat with veggies and swear sour sauce was delicious. Spicy warm "soup" with tofu and chopped soya meat tasted good but I was expecting more. It was presented with a small fire to keep it warm, which looked nice (and worked).
Menü was mit only available, but hangs in A0 size in the front of the shop, put on the street. Stuff didn't speak much English but it wasn't really needed.
Pros: Good food, cosy restaurant
Cons: A little pricey

Like another reviewer, when I got here the staff had no knowledge of a vegan menu and were unable to tell us what was vegan on the menu. We left and went to Kururu, a hidden treasure.

They no longer have a vegan menu - Edit
We asked two of the staff and even showed pictures of the menu from happy cow and they said they no longer had it. I asked if any of the meals were vegan/could be made vegan. Waitress Suggested two meals, vegetable stir fry and vegetable fried rice. We didn’t want that so we headed to another restaurant on the same road - LBK craft that has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options clearly labelled.
