Nice place, but room for improvement

I had high expectations because of the word-of-mouth of other people, but I was a bit disappointed. The place is super nice and chill on the beach. Some of the staff is friendly and helpful, but the other day there was staff who was not like this at all. He wasn’t helpful making my smoothiebowl vegan and I didn’t feel very welcome.

I had the tempeh wrap once and the smoothiebowl. The wrap was really nice and tasty, but the smoothiebowl was okay.

Deserves 5 stars

Staff are amazing and know what veganism, happy to sit and chat with you. We ordered the chickpea salad, falafel wrap and roti channai, and everything was so tasty. The salad could have been a typical boring side salad but was full of flavour and was the best thing we ordered!

Actually 5 stars!

Lovely café at Long Beach with vegan options. Friendly staff will help you guide the menu and make vegan adjustments! They can even make vegan tzatziki! The food is well flavored and, for the island, well priced!

Pros: Food, Staff, Location

Great vegan options!

After a few days on Redang island (where there was nothing vegan!) I was so happy to find this place on long beach that had falafel, tempeh and chickpea salad. I asked for no dairy/yoghurt in the salad as I'm vegan and they said they could make a tzatziki dressing with coconut - it was amazing. I'll be coming here for lunch everyday!

Vegan options

Staff know what vegan is and speak English. Ordered vegetable fried rice and potato wedges. Asked for roti (as suggested in below review) but was advised that bread has egg in it.

Edit: came here a second time. Waitress who spoke English wasn't there and it was quite tricky to order with the others. Ordered vegetable rice noodles, no egg, no oyster sauce. I think what they brought were vegetable egg noodles and the sauce probably had oyster sauce in it. (Thankfully my other half was there who is omni, so he could eat it).

To be on the safe side, I would only go back when English speaking waitress is working or if you speak Malaysian.

Talk to chef, many options

Try the vegetable rendang, loved it. There are also other sauces that are vegan, and some egg-free noodle options, too.

In general electricity is not available during the day, so they can't keep items that need to be refrigerated (such as tofu). But the variety of veggies were pleasant today.

I had a longer conversation with the chef, and properly explained the differences between vegan and vegetarian. The go's and no-go's. His staff doesn't speak English very well, so better ask for "Farid" (the chef), and he'll happily explain you the vegan options. Otherwise you end up with a bad experience like the French person in the previous reviews.

He's now also aware that he is the only place listed on the app, so I hope he makes the best out of this and won't let you down! Good guy.

Omni but chilling

Chilling atmosphere, with very friendly, englishspeaking and helpful staff. They knew what "vegan" means and helped us select the plant based dishes, which were all very very delicious and medium priced. Even special wishes were fulfilled perfectly. We spent one week at the island and this restaurant was a lifesaver. (Minus one star because not fully vegan).

Pros: Vegan options, international and local dishes

Cons: Omni restaurant
