Great delivery - Edit
I love getting CherCher for a night in. Their vegan options are clearly labeled online so you can order it right to your home. It’s so nice to have a full and comforting meal on cold nights. I especially love the cabbage and carrots and their kik. The lentils are a little spicy but that’s what’s so nice about them.

Very delicious vegan options - Edit
This restaurant is a little gem tucked off the main downtown Bethesda drag because it surprises you with a quiet ambiance and a platter of delicious amazing vegan food! I have been here several times and oscillate between the special 7-item vegan combo and the special 10-item vegan combo. Because each offering is about a large serving spoonful, it's not so much more food, but it sometimes is daunting to consider ordering 10 different items! I am generally about the same level of full belly after each, because, really it's the injera that fills you up. If you just eat the dishes and not injera, you'll be fine and can lower your carb intake.
Read moreMy favorite dishes here are the shiro wot, which I like to order separately. The green beans are good but always very thoroughly cooked, so be aware crisp green beans is not the goal, but flavor is the goal. I love the cabbage and the collard greens for sure. The proteins are delicious, especially the yellow split pea.
All around a delicious meal, filling, and well balanced. You can order traditional injera/ gluten-free for an extra cost.
Pros: Vegan platters, Shiro wot, Gluten free injera
Cons: Serves meat

Clearly labeled and lots of vegan options - Edit
We love this Ethiopian restaurant. Everything is clearly labeled. There are three vegans in our family and we usually order the deluxe vegan combo. Highly recommend it!

could have been better - Edit
Usually when I have Ethiopian food, it's been awhile since I've had Ethiopian food, and it always punches me in the face with amazingness. This time, it had indeed been probably 2+ years since eating Ethiopian food, but I unfortunately wasn't punched with amazing flavors.
Read moreService was slow. Food wasn't hot - only lukewarm, so when it arrived we felt rushed to gobble it down before getting too cold. The "salad" portion with gigantic tomato chunks and big raw onions was not appealing at all. Some of the platter items were better than others (as always, IMO), but nothing really stood out. I agree with some other reviewers who said it could use more seasoning.
I probably wouldn't choose to eat here again, but I was glad to see Ethiopian as a cuisine option in this area.

SO GOOD - Edit
Came here and got the “vegan deluxe” special, which is a sample of 10 items. (Definitely worth splitting - my partner and I did and we were so stuffed we couldn’t even finish it!) There was 11 listed under the vegan section, so we thought we’d have to choose, but when we told the server she nodded and brought us a big spread. We ended up getting lentil samosas first, which we thought were part of the special buuut we got charged for them at the end (thinking they were brought to us on accident?). We weren’t sad though because they were so tasty! A little spicy and delicious.
Read moreAs for the main meal, it’s served on their injera which was sour and delicious. All of the food we got was amazing, from the lentils to the beets to the green beans to the collard greens to the cabbage and all the other things I wasn’t totally sure what they were. I can’t wait to come back again! Only negative thing is it’s a really tight space and kind of chaotic but the food was worth it!

Great veg combo - Edit
This is one of my favorite Ethiopian spots in the area. The food is pretty consistent and I think they learned from the last reviewer on HappyCow - I didn’t see “butter” listed anywhere in the vegan part of the menu and when I asked the server she promptly told me there was no dairy in any of the vegan items.

Be careful! - Edit
This is a lovely restaurant and the food was good, not great. Needed more seasoning. The main reason for my low rating was this: they have a whole section labeled vegan, which is great, except one of the dishes mentioned 'spiced butter'. When I asked the server about it she said they could prepare it without butter. My response was, if it's in the vegan section why does it have butter in the first place?!? She didn't have an answer. I suffer from a severe dairy intolerance, so I always questions menu items, regardless of whether they say they're vegan. Their inclusion of butter in a supposed vegan item made me skeptical of whether they even know what that means and if I could trust anything that came out of the kitchen. They assured me everything I ordered would be dairy free and I didn't get sick, so no harm was done, but had I not been vigilant in my queries that may not have been the case. Dine with caution!

All vegan platters at good price - Edit
Chercher offers many vegan options on their menu. We get the deluxe vegan platter, which is a very good price to share among 2-3 people! The green beans dish and the beets are especially delicious (both on the vegan platter). The staff is also very friendly.
